Fun with Books

So the baby's managed to pull most of the books on my R and S shelf onto the floor and me and the Sweetie are putting them back. He picks up my copy of Kenilworth by Sir Walter Scott.

Sweetie: So Scott, what's he famous for?
Me: I suppose his best known book is Ivanhoe.
Sweetie: Ivanhoe? I thought that was Russian.
Me: What?!
Sweetie: Yeah, I thought it was about a farmer named Ivan. Ivan? Hoe?
Me: O_O

Yeah, he was serious. But I don't hold it against him. He's a computer programmer. (Actually a rather well read computer programmer. Just not when it comes to anything before the 20th century. Or involving English history.)

He also used to think the Flock of Seagull's "I Ran" was called Iran. About, you know, the country formerly known as Persia. (He thought the chorus was "Iran's so far away." Which does make a sort of sense. *g*)
