Fun with Books

So the baby's managed to pull most of the books on my R and S shelf onto the floor and me and the Sweetie are putting them back. He picks up my copy of Kenilworth by Sir Walter Scott.

Sweetie: So Scott, what's he famous for?
Me: I suppose his best known book is Ivanhoe.
Sweetie: Ivanhoe? I thought that was Russian.
Me: What?!
Sweetie: Yeah, I thought it was about a farmer named Ivan. Ivan? Hoe?
Me: O_O

Yeah, he was serious. But I don't hold it against him. He's a computer programmer. (Actually a rather well read computer programmer. Just not when it comes to anything before the 20th century. Or involving English history.)

All the more reason to have her books at her height, and mummy and daddy's out of reach.

Wish we could do that, but this is a house of many, many, many books and it's just not feasible. We did, however, reorganize everything so the DVDs and CDs are out of baby reach. Otherwise, we're just supervising her explorations and trying to teach her to be gentle.
