SPN and the Sweetie

So, after watching the Supernatural season finale this spring, I've sort of gotten hooked on the show and have been watching it in reruns. (No, I'm not in the handbasket, either Wincest or RPS, thanks for asking.) I've mentioned it to the Sweetie, in a "hey, this is a really good show" kinda way, but not with an eye to winning him over.

Last Wednesday we both happened to not have any morning film fest screening, the little girl was down for a nap, so I ended up watching the episode stored up on the PVR. (Nightshifter, for those who care.) The Sweetie decided to stay in the room.

Half way through the ep, he turns to me:

Sweetie: I hate you.
Me: (silently) yessssss.

Hey, I wasn't even trying to get him to like the show.

And then in the ep, this girl is hitting on Dean, and he comes out with this gem:

Sweetie: Don't even try it, girl, he only has eyes for his brother.

Yes, I have created a monster.

Seriously, I don't think I'll get fannish about the show (no time) but it is surprisingly well written and acted so I'll definitely be keeping up with it.

llywela13 got me interested in the Winchester Brothers and luckily for me my other half likes it too. Probably because of an X-Files feel to it, but at least I can watch with him in peace and not have him moaning.

My guy's usually good for a show if the writing or acting's top notch and it hits his subject matter kinks. Mind you, a female interest can sometimes help. (I'm still waiting to hook his Alice Krige obsession with the Operation Susie ep in Pros.)

snicker. when we watch the show live, I make liberal use of the TIVO instant replay. over and over and over again - xlorp will make no comment, smart man.

I have gen recs in my LJ if you want to dabble in fanfic. the bulk of fic being written is gen or het (with wincest coming in right behind).

-Nightshifter is one of the best eps in season 2. I want a t-shirt that reads: "NO we're *not* working for the mandroid!"

xlorp not commenting is probably a good thing. The Sweetie is much given to the commenting. (Actually, he's the one who also made use of the PVR replay during SGA. He wanted to watch Sheppard and Ford being cute together.)

I don't think I'm going to get fannish about SPN. No time, for a start. Plus, though I do read gen, I'm a slasher through and through and I'm not doing either the Wincest or RPS thing. I've had my fling with incest (LotR!) and RPS (also LotR!).

BTW, the Sweetie is down with you on the mandriod t-shirt.

I don't know that you'd really want to borrow him. The problem with having a slash positive guy is that he then starts finding all the weird, crack-addled, and yet entirely plausible, slash pairings that you'd never have noticed in a million years. Mind you, that's always good for amusement value. *g*
