Another December 17th is nearly over, which means my birthday is nearly gone for another year.
It was a quiet night in this year, but the Sweetie proved again why he is the Sweetie and got me an awesome gift. Some of you may remember that last year he sprung Boromir's sword on me, which is still probably the best gift I've ever gotten. However, this year he came pretty darn close to matching it...
He sent away for the nifty army jacket I was coveting at the Police concert in November. How cool is that?
The Sweetie rather overestimated the size, but he's sending it in for an exchange. And it's still totally cool. My 16 year old self is very jealous that I've got this now. *g*

The opening of the gifts was followed by a yummy meal of takeaway sushi (mmm, unagi) and a white chocolate mousse cake produced by the same caterer who did our wedding. Here's a shot of the cake:

I'd hoped to watch Odd Man Out after dinner. It's one of my absolute favourite films and we'd recorded it off TCM early in the month. Unfortunately, we were both too dead to contemplate a two hour movie, but I did talk the Sweetie into watching an episode of Pros (Mixed Doubles! And he liked it!) so it was all good.
Now I must seriously pass out. We're all recovering from colds--although in the Sweetie's case that means he seems to be getting worse again--and a good night's sleep wouldn't come amiss.
Thanks again to everyone who sent birthday wishes. It made the day really special.

Date: 2007-12-18 08:13 pm (UTC)As for the cake, there's plenty left for Bodie. (It's a wee cake, but extremely rich. And yummy.)

Date: 2007-12-18 12:07 pm (UTC)Happy Belated Birthday.
Oh, hon, I have no excuse other than ice (which I plan to milk until April at least). I was so bummed at losing a day of writing that I knuckled down last night to pound out some fic (stayed up till nearly midnight--no mean feat when you get up at 4:00). I didn't even get to your beta-ing. I plan to do that today if you're still interested.
I'm so glad your birthday was merry. The cake looks delish and the coat is wonderful (if a trifle large!!). I hope your coming year is filled to the brim with all manner of good things. Take care. Sorry again for being about seven hours too late! :-)

Date: 2007-12-18 08:20 pm (UTC)Groovy that the writing is coming. (I'm looking forward to seeing your story.) And it was a great day. (The cake was very delish, and the coat is definitely a "trifle" large. If by a trifle you mean a boatload. *g*)

Now, ahem, don't you have a MUNCLE story to finish...? *g* (Okay, yes, hit me, but then I'm struggling over my own bloody deadline!)

Hey, it's done (okay, mostly done) but I'm just waiting on my last beta to weigh in. I should have the sucker finished tomorrow. And you? *evil grin*

Date: 2007-12-18 06:19 pm (UTC)Can't think of a better way to end the day than watching Mixed Doubles, although Odd Man Out would have been great too. Am I allowed to brag a little bit, btw? Oh well, I'm going to anyway - the screenplay of Odd Man Out was written by a relative of mine... Hey, it's my one claim to fame - don't deny me it! *g*

Date: 2007-12-18 10:57 pm (UTC)As for a relative writing Odd Man Out, that is utterly cool. And thanks to you, I had to go check out the film's IMDB listing again, and noticed that it's available in the UK on DVD. That's moving up the order I was going to make anyway. James Mason on crisp, lovely DVD. Mmmmm.

Date: 2007-12-19 02:33 am (UTC)Can you loan out "The Sweetie" to plan my birthday this coming year?
no subject
Date: 2007-12-19 05:42 am (UTC)I don't know if you really want him to plan your 40th, though. He gets stressed about stuff like that. Mind you, he is good at finding the cool gifts.
