Well, I finally got tagged by [livejournal.com profile] schnuffi on this one (days ago; where does the time go?) so here it is...

A. List seven habits/quirks/facts about yourself.
B. Tag seven people to do the same.

1. I studied astrophysics in uni for three years. Until, that is, I realized my English marks were way higher (I was doing a double specialist, astrophys/English; yeah, I'm nuts) and that I was never going to pass that third year quantum mechanics course.

2. One of my jobs during uni was taking bets at the race track. It was great money for a student, but I finally quit when I got sick of drunk guys blowing smoke in my face and yelling at me for giving them the wrong horse. (Yeah, actually you picked the wrong horse, buddy.)

3. I can't abide gambling. Even for fun. (See number 2)

4. I did grad school (Film Studies) in Madison, Wisconsin, which has to make me one of the few Canadians who went to the States for graduate work and ended up further north than she started.

5. I used to seriously practice the Korean martial art Hap Ki Do, and made it to a blue belt before my orthopedic specialist told me just what trouble I'd be in if I was ever thrown badly.

6. I have crazy scoliosis, i.e. curvature of the spine. Not that I've ever let it slow me down. Mostly. (See number 5.)

7. After fencing off and on for a lot of years, the U of Toronto maitre d'armes finally drafted me for the varsity team when I went back to do my Bachelor of Education. Which made me a thirty year old fighting a bunch of nineteen year olds. I had a lot less stamina, but way more cunning.

I think all the Pros people on my list have done this already, so how about [livejournal.com profile] sooguy, and [livejournal.com profile] canadiansuzanne, and whoever else would like to do it.

I'm convinced that everyone is quirky. It's just a matter of how you approach things.

BTW, a big Happy Birthday! I totally had plans to do a funky post for it, but it's been a crazy week of snowstorms and getting Rosalind used to her daycare. (I may call Rebecca for advice on when to start leaving her by herself, 'cause the daycare workers just keep giving me the "do what you think best" spiel, even when I ask them point blank for suggestions.)

Thanks for the birthday wishes.

Call Rebecca by all means. I do think it depends on your comfort level with the daycare and Rosalinds experience with being left with strangers, but in my honest opinion pulling the band-aid off quick works best. There's tears and stuff, but she will adjust and she will learn that when you come back to get her that your are not going to abandon her. Some kids take a long time to adjust others do it quickly. I think it depends on part on your reaction too.

Oh, I friended [livejournal.com profile] storm_grant today after seeing her blog or at least a post of her's featured on the new EXPLORE LJ area. I had no idea you were friends until I saw her userinfo. Just so you don't think I am stalking you or your writer friends. ;)
