Here are the rules:

  • 1. Comment on this post
  • 2. I will give you a letter
  • 3. Think of 5 fictional characters and post their names and your comments on these characters in your LJ.

[livejournal.com profile] ancastar gave me L. (She couldn't give me an easy one, could she? Not R, or B or S. Not that I'm bitter or anything.) If you'd like to play too, please feel free to comment.

    Luke Skywalker

I'm embarrassed to admit it, but when Star Wars came out, it was Luke I fell for, not Han. Hey, I was eleven, and apparently hadn't yet developed an affection for the bad boys.

    Robert Lovelace

Lovelace is more than a mere bad boy. He is an utterly despicable rake who tries, and fails, to corrupt the too pure to be true Clarissa. But as played by Sean Bean in the Beeb's adaptation of the Richardson novel, he's also got some very interesting vulnerabilities lurking beneath the surface. Throw in a very slashy friendship with a character played by Sean Pertwee (Sean Pertwee!) and I'm so very there.

    Lloyd Dobler

The ultimate 80s sensitive teenager, played by the always reliable John Cusack. I doubt there's anyone of my age who can see this picture of Lloyd and not hear Peter Gabriel's In Your Eyes.

    Lee Adama

I was already fond of Jamie Bamber for his portrayal of dear, doomed Archie in the Hornblower movies. But as Lee Adama in the new Battlestar, he entered a whole new realm of hotness. Look at those arms, those abs. That towel…

    Lawrence of Arabia

Okay, T.E. Lawrence wasn't exactly fictional, but in the hands of David Lean and Peter O'Toole he's not entirely real, either. Lean's epic is stunning, and O'Toole is not only brilliant, but utterly beautiful as well. The slash-tastic relationship between O'Toole's Lawrence and Omar Sharif's Sherif Ali also doesn't hurt. I mean, look at them!

Oh you did yours with photos - lovely! And absoluely true for Lloyd Dobler. That single shot and In Your Eyes are forever linked. Can't see/hear one without the other coming to mind.
An gave me S. I'm still thinking...

I had to use photos. I wanted to post that pic of Lee. Heh.

I'm looking forward to seeing your list.

I'll take a letter - though I may have to fall back to written rather than visual.

All righty then. Looking to your icon, how about F? (Written is good; I like written. I just selfishly wanted to put up that pic of Lee in a towel. *g*)

Oh, I liked Luke best too! *g*

I wasn't going to play this one, but... I'm tempted. May I have a letter please?!

Glad I wasn't alone in liking Luke. I think. *g*

Your letter, should you choose to accept is, is D. (I'm not quite so cruel as [livejournal.com profile] ancastar. *eg*)

    Orrence!

I must have been about 10 when I first saw that film. I was utterly smitten, without quite knowing what I was smitten about, and certainly did not understand all the implications! But the music, the widescreen spectacle, O'Toole's beauty, the very exoticness of it all. It's stuck in my head as one of those films that I almost daren't watch again in case it destroys that first and lasting magic.

Please to join the game - Letter? ;D

The first time I saw Lawrence, I was 8 and I liked it. A lot. Then when I was 15 the PBS station across the lake showed it 3 times in one week. With pledge breaks. I watched it all 3 times and I was in lurvvvvv. Lawrence's sexuality didn't quite register with me yet, but his relationship with Ali was a huge draw. As was the filmmaking. The cut from Lawrence blowing out a match to the desert sun rising still takes my head off.

As for a letter, how about A?

You did brilliantly! I knew you could handle the challenge. :-)

Lloyd Dobler--what a fantastic choice. The pic you chose is iconic. Man, Jamie Bamber is cut these days. As I don't watch BSG, I still think of him from Hornblower, where he was rather soft. And O'Toole as Lawrence--beautiful is the word.

    Wonderful job. Love the pics.

It took some thinkin'. Don gets the credit for Lloyd Dobler. He suggested Lloyd Llewyllen (sp?), some crazy Marvel comics character, which made me go, hey!

As for Jamie Bamber, he is totally cut. And not afraid to wander around the BSG set in nothing but a towel. (You should watch BSG. It's grim, but awesome.)

I had to get a little Bean in there. And Lovelace is an evil flavour of delicious.

    Your letter is R.

You definitely should try and track down Alatriste. It's awesome. I see Appaloosa tonight at 6, and I'm very excited.

Though I can't help but think Peggy might be appalled. I've always thought she was a Progressive in Republican Base clothing. ;-)
