Oh Dear

Finally called my hair stylist for a long needed hair cut. Only to discover she's no longer at the same salon.

This is what comes of going a year between cuts.

I'm just hoping her former partner calls me back and knows where she is, 'cause Cap was the only person I've trusted to cut my hair for nearly twenty years.

::sigh::

I feel your pain.

The lady who had been my stylist for eight years or so up and moved to North Carolina. I cried!

But she didn't like North Carolina, so moved right back, and went back to the same salon. "Don't every leave me again!" I wailed, embracing her feet, and she hasn't. Thank goodness.

I hope you have the same happy ending I did! It's just as difficult to train a stylist as it is to train a husband. "You want it HOW short?"

I followed the bloke who cut my hair in uni to 6 different salons. Then he had the bad manners to move to Ottawa and alas, never moved back.

My current stylist was the only one I've ever had who would cut my hair really, really short. Like Annie Lennox short. Every other one would point out that I have a freaking huge scar down the back of my neck, and didn't I want to hide it? Cap just got on with it and cut it as short as I liked.

At least at the moment all I really need is to have the ends straightened out, the advantage of longer hair, I suppose.

Mine is even shorter than Annie Lennox's; I've worn it that way for 39 years (since I graduated from high school) since I just can't be bothered. So why do people who aren't my regular stylist, Charlotte the Blessed, persist in asking me, "Are you sure?" It grows, dammit! A haircut is not forever!

Sounds like Charlotte the Blessed is awesome. Much like Cap.

I've had my hair dead short for the past 15 years, but I occasionally have blips where I grow it long. This is one of those times. (This time started because I have no time to get a hair cut, and has continued because I'm curious at to when exactly it's going to start driving me freaking nuts.)

The whole having to actually brush it/condition it thing is starting to lose it's novelty, though. When it's short, I don't even bother with a brush or comb. Just run my fingers through it once and consider it sorted.

Ah hair stylists! I'm so picky with those, too. The lady who does my hair is doing that cut for short hair just perfect. She's the wife of the shop's owner and even though the owner is a charmer I'll choose her because I think she does an even better job.
I'm very glad she's working even with two small kids.

I hope you can locate your stylist. It's a tragedy if someones second best does your hair.

I've got my fingers crossed, though I haven't heard anything yet.

My current (and I hope future) stylist was the only one who'd ever cut it as short as I wanted. At least with the longer hair, there's less possibility now for a truly atrocious haircut. (I had a couple of those before I found my current gal.)

Ouch, that stinks. I have naturally curly hair -- yes I grew up in a Charlie Brown cartoon *sigh* -- and my hair is a lot more difficult to cut than it looks like it would be. If my stylist ever leaves I might have to follow here. I mean, she can't get it under control but at least I don't look like I was dragged through a hedge backwards... Most of the time. :D

The Sweetie has really curly hair, and he's careful about who cuts it. Living with him has made me rethink my jealousy of those with curls. Though a leetle more body than I have would be nice. *g*

I followed one hairdresser to 11 different places in the 90s. I only stopped going to her when I took my present job, because by then she was only seeing people Fridays and Saturday mornings...and I work both times. But I'm happy to say I have found a great guy literally out the back door of my office.

My gal was down to three days a week. I just hope she hasn't decided to retire, or something silly like that. (She's not much older than me, and she's awesome. She's this tiny little Chinese lesbian with a ton of tattoos.)

The Sweetie likes his stylist, so if mine has disappeared, I think I'll be trying her.

Good luck finding her. I'm totally with you on the going a year between cuts. My hair is neither curly or straight, and unless I've just come out of the hairdresser's it looks like I've had a close encounter with a wind tunnel. Which is probably a hint I should get it cut a bit more regularly! *g*

I never used to be able to go a year without a cut. Until this past year, I had a really short pixie-ish cut that couldn't go any longer than 3 months without looking dire. But at least the advantage of this growing out my hair thing means that my hair will merely be irritating not atrocious-looking until I find my old stylist or suss out a new one.
