I'm up far too late getting things ready for MediaWest on the theory that I'd rather have a late night today than tomorrow since I'll be driving 6 hours on Thursday. We'll see how that works out.

Can't wait for the con, though it's going to be hard leaving the little girl. (The Sweetie let it slip that I'm leaving on Sunday night, and Ros has been cranky, contrary and sad ever since. I don't figure this is entirely a coincidence.)

It's going to be a fun packed weekend. I'm going to be sitting on these panels:

Friday
  • 4 PM, Pros, Ethics (or Lack Thereof) in CI5 (with FJBryan)
  • 5 PM, MFU, PWP or Lots of Plot? (with [livejournal.com profile] sithdragn)

    Saturday
  • 5 PM, Pros, An Introduction to a Classic Fandom (with FJBryan and [livejournal.com profile] sc_fossil)

There'll be a MFU party, Friday at noon, and a Pros party (co-hosted by me and FJBryan) Saturday at 3 PM. (There'll be a quiz and nosh and vids and fun at the Pros party.)

I'm also bringing a few copies of Lace and Blade 2, the anthology my (very Pros-influenced) fantasy story was published in. Lorraine Brevig has graciously offered to sell it from her table.

    So, who else is going?

I was away at the weekend for Nattercon and leaving my two babies (3 years & 20 month year old) for a couple of nights was really hard. But saying that the cuddles and love I got when I returned was lovely, and I'm sure you will get the same. Ros will have a whole weekend's worth of things to tell you as well, my little boy couldn't shut up about all the things he had done and all the Doctor Who he had watched with daddy! Made me feel very appreciated! Have fun, it sounds like it's going to be!

I have left her with the Sweetie for a weekend before (he's a lovely, understanding bloke) but this time it's feeling a bit harder. I think because she's clearly upset about it. But I know it will all be all right when I get back.

(Is it bad that I was excited that your 3 year old is watching Doctor Who? 'Cause that means my nearly 3 year old might be able to watch it soon-ish. I'm dying to introduce her to the shows I love.)

Joe is obsessed with Doctor Who and finds it much more exciting than ordinary children's television. He does however find some too scary to watch, and it's never what I expect! For example he loves Daleks and Davros whereas I was terrified of them as a child. We do however have long conversations about it not being real and as Joe says 'the Doctor always saves the day', meaning it's always alright in the end! He is obsessed by Doctor Who monsters so we hear constantly about them all from Autons to Zygons! I love it as Doctor Who was my favourite show as a child and I do think it encourages the imagination!

Hey --we have to do the phones today sometime.

    Let me know when.

    Um, do the phones?

You did get my mobile number, yes? Although it turns out I can complete the activation of the phone until I'm in the States, so I'll do it when I cross the border. I'll send you my Canadian mobile number and make sure I have that turned on until the U.S. number is working.

If you want to touch base by phone, I'm pretty much going to be at my desk most of today. (I'll send that number as well.)

It might tickle you to know that I met the wonderfully talented P a while back when we did what had to be one of the first LOM panels in the US. LOL! It was great fun.

Ooh I didn't know P was a closet LoM fan too. *g* I can talk about that brilliant show until the cows come home but I tend to shy aways from discussions of the fan fic, of which there is much brilliant stuff, 'cos I only write crack there, egads! *g*

Sounds like you're all set to have a good time again. :D

Not so closet, really. *g* I just don't hang out in the LoM fannish areas. Too little time; too many shows I love.

And you do know I did a LoM vid, yeah?

I don't hang out at The Railway Arms, but I am active at [livejournal.com profile] lifein1973 our main com. I run a weekly Friday drabble challenge there if you're ever in the mood. *g*

I didn't know you'd done a LoM vid... I'm wondering if it was before my time? I have a nasty habit of arriving in fandoms after the main "explosion" has already taken place. A link would be lovely... Actually... I *think* a mate recced your vid to me once and I couldn't get to it because it was password protected... or is my memory just that faulty?

I'm a feral LoM fan, so I never even posted the vid to any of the comms.

If you're interested, it's at http://przed.com/vids . The site is password protected (with a link explaining why) but drop me a line and I'll send you the password right away. (I'm at work for another hour, then out of email touch for a couple of hours.)

ah, so I did remember that correctly. *g* See, you can't stop fans from finding the work no matter how feral you are. :D

I want the fans to find me. Just not, you know, the big scary customs/FBI/law enforcement types. Unless, of course, they send Bodie & Doyle. Or Sam & Gene. *g*
