As many of you on the list have already reported, Close Quarters was an amazing experience. It was like getting together with a bunch of your best friends who all share a love and appreciation of Bodie and Doyle. [livejournal.com profile] justacat did a truly wonderful job of organizing the convention for maximum fun, and her loyal minion [livejournal.com profile] gblvr assisted in making sure it all ran smoothly.

One of the best things with a smaller con like this was it was possibly to have lovely conversations with just about everyone there. I caught the shuttle from the airport with [livejournal.com profile] sc_fossil, who is always a fun companion. My roomie was FJBryan and we spent a lot of time together talking about B&D. (I also corrupted her on the last night with a episode of Blake's 7.) It was wonderful to see [livejournal.com profile] ancastar again, and meet [livejournal.com profile] callistosh65 for the first time. Then there was [livejournal.com profile] krisserci5, [livejournal.com profile] hagsrus, [livejournal.com profile] beledibabe, Kath and Glow and Flamingo and a bunch of other people I'm no doubt forgetting.

It's always great to be able to spend time with the lovely and talented [livejournal.com profile] artconserv, and this time there was the added bonus of seeing the original paintings of the illustrations she was generous enough to do for Exile. I was chuffed to come home with three of them. I've got the two last blank wall spaces in my office all ready for them. (It was also a trip to finally see Exile in zine form. The printer did an awesome job and it made all the stress worthwhile.)

The panels were all fun. I helped co-mod the AU panel with [livejournal.com profile] gblvr, where my primary contribution was coming up with the categories of AUs to talk about. (My personal favourite category? "Shouldn't Work But Does.")

I assisted FJBryan with the video portion of the Saturday night trivia quiz. On the downside, that meant I couldn't play, but I did get to groove on everyone else's enjoyment.

Sunday came too soon, and it was all over. I did some more corrupting by showing [livejournal.com profile] msmoat a Top Gear slash vid. Then I cadged a ride to the airport with [livejournal.com profile] ancastar and [livejournal.com profile] callistosh65, and since I had some time before my flight left, we hit a truck stop where An and Callisto has corned beef hash and I had lemon meringue pie. (They said the experience was good research for Supernatural fic.)

[livejournal.com profile] justacat, you did a wonderful job, and I very much hope you are up for having another CQ again in 2011. I'm pencilling it into my schedule right now.

I should have been back at work today, but picked up a bug sometime yesterday. At the hotel my throat was sore, but I thought it was from the dry air. In the plane my nose was runny, but I thought it was from allergies. When I got home, I was ache-y, but I figured it was from lugging around two bags stuffed with zines. This morning, I woke up feeling like I'd been run over by a truck and realized that, no, I was sick. I got up for breakfast with the Sweetie and Ros (both of whom were as glad to see me as I was them) and then went back to bed for another four hours. The rest of the day was spent lounging on the couch, catching up on episodes of Merlin and Wallander.

Well, bum about the cold! (Hmm...and I hope you weren't incubating during the con... *g*) On the other hand, yay that it hit after the con! It was lovely, wasn't it? And I'm so glad we had time to chat (and share vids) and everything. (Oh, and I am definitely taking you up on the torrent information offer!) My only wish is that this would all happen more often than once every two years. I want to see everyone again!

Oh, and...did you know that during one of your vids I was hit with the most tremendous idea for relationship stuff/angst for the amnesia story? Yes! Fortunately, I jotted some notes down. Unfortunately, I don't remember which vid it was, but would very much like to see it again, since the striking was so very powerful. *g* So, thank you for that as well as the TG and the all around fun!

I'm very pleased we got to chat a bit more than the last time I saw you. And share vids. I'll write up a torrent message and send it off today. Along with an invite to one of the sites.

As for inspiring you with the amnesia story? Go me! Can't wait to see the resulting story whenever it's ready.

I'm sorry you're sick! I hate that. Bad germs.

Thanks for the company. I enjoyed spending time with you, hon. You're always such fun.

Your zine is fabulously gorgeous. I can't wait to read it.

I'm over the worst, but pretty much got flattened yesterday.

You are also fun to spend time with. (And thanks for the magnet. It has taken it's place on the fridge along with my other fannish trinkets.)

Hope you like the zine. It is gorgeous, isn't it?

I'm really sorry to hear that you're so sick but glad that you managed to stay well for the con as that would have been miserable.

It really has been great reading all of the con reports as it sounds like a lovely time was had by all. ♥

At least I'm over the worst of it now. Yesterday was pretty miserable.

The con was lovely. Maybe you won't have training next time and can make it yourself.

concrud is evil :-(

On the other hand, yay! fun cons rock!

I'm hoping this is my full dose of concrud and I can now successfully avoid it at WorldCon. That's my story and I'm sticking to it.

Apart from that, cons do indeed rock!

Oh no! So sorry to hear you managed to get sick on top of that three hour delay. I hope you're feeling better now.

More pie, I think, is the answer.*g*

I felt crappy, but not too crappy. And there are worse things than watching 3 hours of Merlin back to back when you're supposed to be writing boring Office 2007 documentation. *g*

More pie is always the answer. *g*

Oh, you had such fun! (and are clearly a v. corrupting influence!) I am happily envious, if you see what I mean (clear as mud, me), except for the lurgi that have laid you low. Hope you are mended soon (and that Ros and the Sweetie don't get it).

I also love lemon meringue pie, and haven't tasted any in ages. Hmm, maybe I should learn to make it! (no other lemon pie fanciers in my household, alas. One is a fruit tarts fan, two are anything-chocolate-only (except we all like carrot cake. oh well ...))

It was completely fun. And I do my best to be a corrupting influence. *g*

Lemon meringue is one of my two fave brands of pie, the other being cherry. Key lime isn't so bad either. (Clearly, I'm fond of tart flavours.) I can't abide carrot cake, though. I used to, but then I worked at a bakery one summer and made wayyyy too much of the stuff. It got into my pores after a while.
