...of Ros and the cast.

Well, the cast is still on. Ros' doctor saw her yesterday, but can't refer her to the orthopedic clinic at Sick Kids Hospital until she gets the report from the hospital in the Sault. The same report that the doctor up there told us we didn't need. (We did ask for a report. Next time--though I hope there isn't a next time--I shall insist. Strenuously.)

So we're waiting for the report to come and for Sick Kids to call us with an appointment. They allegedly see kids no more than 7 to 10 days after the break, so we're looking at Monday at the latest. And the way our luck has been going, it's going to be Monday.

Making this even harder is the fact that I'm in the middle of a huge training initiative at work (I'm training our 600 plus staff on Office 2007) and haven't been able to take any time off the last two days. In fact I've been working extra after Ros goes to bed. And I'm leaving tomorrow morning for WorldCon. The Sweetie has been holding down the fort and keeping the homefires burning and all those other lovely cliches. In short, he's been living up to his Sweetie name, and I'm going to owe him Big Time. (He has carte blanche to see as many films as he likes at the After Dark film fest next week.)

Ros is handling it all pretty well. She doesn't seem to be in any pain, and is mostly irritated by the cast. And taking full advantage of the fact that we're letting her watch as much TV as she wants. (Okay, the was a major meltdown when we left her with a babysitter on Monday night to see The Decembrists--awesome show, BTW--but otherwise she's been pretty much her normal self. Just immobile.

But she's not letting it slow her down any. I usually put pics up at [livejournal.com profile] baolin, but I thought I'd put a couple up here of Ros in her cast. These were taken on a visit to uni friends of mine who live in the country and have their own trampoline out back. Ros was looking forward to the trampoline and wasn't going to let a little thing like a cast slow her down.

Daddy and Ros enjoying some trampoline time. (I also partook of the trampoline, and I have to say it's about equal parts fun and nauseating. Not figuratively nauseating, but it actually made me woozy.)

One more pic of Ros bouncing.

Good grief, she is so adorable! How do you get anything done? Don't you just want to sit and look at her, watch her sleep, etc.? I dare say she is every bit as cute as my papillon, Buster Brown, and that is saying a lot!

I hope all goes as you are hoping it will go.

Hugs from Reno.

She is pretty darn adorable. But also willful and stubborn, so it all evens out.

Things could be better, but also a lot worse, so we're all doing okay.

Hugs back from Toronto.

I would tell you that your daughter is utterly adorable but you already know that right? She is though. *g*

I'm sorry that the cast saga is dragging on and I hope that if it ends up dragging on to Monday that all three of you survive the weekend. ♥

Oh, and enjoy Worldcon.

Yep, she's adorable. Which is a good thing when she's being stubborn. *g*

I'm hoping for Don's sake that we get a Friday appointment at the ortho clinic. At least if it drags to Monday I can take her in.

Defintely looking forward to WorldCon. Or I will be once I shake the stress of this week.

I've been away so I'm just catching up here.

All I can do is sigh with you and send good thoughts your way. These things always happen at the worst possible times.

You'll get through. This, too, shall pass.

Years from now, we'll be laughing about it over drinks.

*Many* years from now :)

Ya know, as these things go, it could be a lot worse. Ros isn't in pain, and she's been mostly pretty accepting of it all, brief temper tantrums excepted.

Still, the good thoughts are appreciated.

Timing is everything, isn't it? Arrgh on the report and on the break itself and on the massive training drain on you. But yay for Ros handling it so well, and for trampolines and for the Sweetie!

I hope you do get in before Monday, but if not, well, I hope good luck starts to dog your every step. *g*

Gosh, these photos are adorable! Go, Ros!

The training is made worse by the stoopid learning management system the mother ship makes us use. It's unwieldy and half the time it doesn't work. Sigh.

As for good luck, I think we're about due. *g*

We're all doing okay. Though we'll see how Don survives me away for the weekend. Here's hoping he gets into the ortho clinic on Friday.

Oh, man, when it rains it pours. And then casts fall out of the sky and hit you. But I must say, she looks much happier and bouncier than I ever would in her situation!

Kids do seem to deal with crap better. There's tears, and crankiness, and then they move on.

Hey, does the fact that you're posting on LJ mean that Ph.D. thing is done and dusted? 'Cause that would be awesome.

Just about done, but not yet dusted. Still more dusting to go. But I finally decided to compromise with myself, because the isolation was no longer truly helping me get things done. It was just isolating me.

Of course you know she's just too cute for words. By the way there's a rule somewhere that says that these things will always happen at the most inconvenient times.

Hugs, Have a great weekend.

I don't think there's ever a good time, but yeah, this was a particularly bad one.

But Sweetie and Ros survived the weekend, we have a plan in place for the rest of the week, and we're all hoping the cast goes away permanently on Thursday.

Uck, that sucks big time. Poor little bunny but she's damn cute with or without cast *G* Good luck with the report!

The report came, but we're still not getting in to Sick Kids 'til this Thursday. (It's bone breaking season, don't you know.) But we're all holding up okay.

Not slowing her down much, is it? I love the shot of her seeminbgly banging it up and down on the trampoline! I sincerely hope the cast comes off on Monday mind, as it still can't be much fun for any of you.

Enjoy WorldCon!!

She's still pretty go go go. We just have to make sure she isn't damaging the cast.

I hope to all that's holy that the damn thing comes off on Thursday, though. (Thursday! Argghhh!)

Awwwww, she's totally adorable (and although a total pain for you, even the tiny cast is cute).

Here's wishing that things buck up and all go your way for this weekend, and YAY for the Sweetie for being such a sweetie! Awwwwww.

The other kids at daycare are finding the cast utterly fascinating.

We all survived the weekend. Now we just have to keep it going 'til Thursday when we get into the ortho clinic. Oy.

She's one determined little girl, is she not?

I'm glad it's not slowing her down and she seems to have adapted to it.

Continued good vibes that all continues to go well.

She is very determined, which is always a good thing, especially now.

Thanks for the good vibes.

One thing I've learned about you these past few get togethers is you're a strong, smart woman. You do such a great job with husby, kidlet, job, fandom, writing... Kudos to you.

Ros is a little Zed. She's darned cute and reminds me of you: determined! Best to you and enjoy WC.

Awww, thanks Kat. That means a lot. We're a determined family, and it looks like we've got the week under control. Here's hoping she gets the cast off on Thursday.

Lively kid + cast = not a good combination, but at least she's not letting it make her fearful. As much as we hate it, stuff happens to kids and making the best of it rather than a drama is so much better... and bouncing on your bottom with Dad has gotta be as good as bouncing on your own two feet! ;)

Yah Decemberists! Not quite so keen on the newest album, but I adore The Crane Wife. But remember - in all that hustle try and grab a wee bit of 'me time' too. Hope everything settles down soon.

She's definitely not fearful with it. Though she has been a bit shyer around anyone who isn't mum and dad this week.

Definitely YAY for The Decemberists. I quite like the new album, but I have to agree The Crane Wife is something very special indeed. (One of the surprise awesome moments in the concert was a cover of Heart's Crazy on You they did with the female vocalists from The Hazards of Love singing. Too. Much. Fun.)
