It's been clear for a couple of weeks that our company was probably going to lay some people off.

Today I found out that I was one of those people.

I pretty much had an inkling when my boss booked a last minute meeting with me right after lunch for little to no reason, so it wasn't a complete shock. But still...

On the positive side, this means I can take some time to figure out what I want to do when I grow up. Again.

On the negative side, there's never a good time to be without income.

Anyone need a good technical trainer/video production person?

Oh man, I'm sorry! It is good that you can sort of re-evaluate and see what you might next pursue, but...it would be nicer to do that on your own schedule than on theirs.

::Hugs::

It's a cliche to say, I know, but you will land on your feet. You're too talented, and smart, and sensible not to. *g*

::More hugs::

It's nice to have the luxury of a bit of time, but it would have been nice to make the choice on my own.

::hugs back::

Maybe this means I'll have time to, you know, work on a Pros vid to a certain song...

oh man. sympathy.

are you able to work stateside, in case I see local jobs?

Thanks.

I doubt I could get a visa to work stateside, though a Chicago job would be tempting. Thanks for the thought.

I know I am a genetically driven Pollyanna, but you will soon learn that the old job had to end before you could be available for the great news coming right around the corner! Let's face it, with a family and bills and all, you would never have left of your own volition. Expect a great outcome, because the universe had to free you from the old job before presenting you with a terrific advancement.

Hugs from Reno (where the plumbing leak "disaster" has made it possible for me to accomplish all the home improvements on my list in one fell swoop!)

Thanks, Linda. I'll just drop you a line when I need cheering up, shall I?

Oh, no, P, that's awful! I'm so sorry to hear that. I hope you CAN find someone who wants a trainer/production person. Definitely time for the tea icon.

Love the tea icon. And it's totally appropriate.

(I know you know how hard this is. ::big hugs::)

Oh no! I'm so sorry about this. It seems to be happening all over, and it's such a worry for everyone. I really hope you find something else soon. *crosses everything for you*

Thanks. We've had it happen to other friends, and there was a large number to get hit here. Here's hoping something turns up.

Aaagh, I'm sorry to hear this! Great big wishes from this direction that you enjoy the time off you do get, and then get snapped up by a job you want when you're ready. {{{P}}}

That's pretty much what I'm hoping. A little time off would be an awesome thing, but I'd really like to avoid eating into our savings. Thank the corporate overlords for a decent package.

Again, I am sorry to hear that.

I will keep my ear to the ground, but I am probably too far from the market that you are looking to work in. Can't picture you or Don EVER moving to Northern Ontario to work.

Take care.

It's a bummer, but I am, so far, handling it okay.

I don't know about Don, but it would take a gun to my head to get me back in northern Ontario. ;)

Very sorry to hear this. I hope this door is shutting only to allow another door to open elsewhere for you.

Thanks for the good wishes. Here's hoping that unemployment is a short-lived thing.
