It's been a much better day today.

I started off by pulling out of the running of both the questionable jobs. I immediately felt a ton less stressed, which tells me it was completely the right thing to do.

I then made a lightning run up to Parry Sound, arrived just in time to meet Mom and my cousin at the entrance to the hospital. The surgeon saw mom, and assured us that the bruising on her foot was just leftover blood from the surgery draining to the lowest point. It will dissipate soon enough, and mom is doing fine. This is an immense relief. (I'm glad we saw him, since the foot looks pretty alarming. More alarming is the fact that mom, my cousin, and the neighbour who's been checking on mom say the whole thing looked ten times worse yesterday. Yikes!)

I'm actually posting this via the good old Parry Sound Library wireless internet. Apparently they don't bother blocking LJ if you're using your own computer. (Hoorah for my shiny new Mac laptop. It's a beauty.)

Tomorrow I should be back in Toronto, and back doing the whole job search thing. (Though I'm thinking a repeat matinee viewing of Sherlock Holmes is in order. I really need to get a Holmes icon uploaded.)

I'm glad you've made the right decision for you and that you feel so much better for it. I'm also glad that your mom's foot is nothing to worry about.

Enjoy the Macbook and take yourself to the pictures - you certainly need a little light relief after all this lot IMO :)

Good to hear that your mom is doing okay!

I had something similar happen ages ago, where I bruised my leg, just below my knee, and a couple of days later, sat on a bus and airplane for 18 hours.
When I arrived home, I couldn't get into my shoe, and my foot was hugely swollen and purple.
Had the same diagnosis as your mom, but it did look really scary.
Watching Sherlock Holmes again definitely sounds like a good decision and less stress about questionable jobs, too.

Good news all the way round! Glad to hear you got there safely and that Mom is doing well. Glad too that you've pulled yourself from contention for those two jobs. You know what's in your heart, smarty-pants. And finally--yay for new Macs, Sherlock and safe journeys home. I'll be thinking of you.

*nods* Every time I break a foot bone, the toes slowly bruise up over the next couple of days until they're little black sausages (and then take until I'm almost out of the cast for the bruising to clear up.) What's really weird is when the broken bone is on the outside edge of my foot, the toes do it in succession, smallest to largest, over the space of three or four days. It looks awful, but other than the swelling pressure, it really doesn't hurt. Folks always go OMG! when they see it, though.

Glad your mom is ok and glad you decided against those two jobs.

I'm thrilled that, if I'm reading you right, you liked SH. I am madly in love w/ the entire movie, cast, script, director, etc. I just loved it. I am spending my evenings learning about RDJ and JL and reading movie!verse stories.

So if you ever want to talk about the movie, I'm your girl! Cyanne and I are supposed to see it again Friday night. I can't wait.

Anyway, I hesitate to use my new icon that Cyanne made b/c I'm afraid no one will know me w/o my B&D icon, but I'll use it the first time for this comment - it's still me even w/o B&D in my icon!

I'm glad you now feel far less stressed, that definitely does say you made the right decision to pull out of both jobs.

And I'm so glad your mom's foot is nothing to worry about.

I'm sorry to hear about what's happened to your mother, and I'm glad to hear that she's doing fine now. I'm glad to hear too that you're now feeling less stressed - everyone knows themselves best, and it sounds like you made the right decision for you. All the best with the job hunt!

And the Sherlock Holmes movie definitely bears repeated watching. It's a fantastic romp, isn't it?
