The Continuing Story...
Aug. 5th, 2009 09:52 pm...of Ros and the cast.
Well, the cast is still on. Ros' doctor saw her yesterday, but can't refer her to the orthopedic clinic at Sick Kids Hospital until she gets the report from the hospital in the Sault. The same report that the doctor up there told us we didn't need. (We did ask for a report. Next time--though I hope there isn't a next time--I shall insist. Strenuously.)
So we're waiting for the report to come and for Sick Kids to call us with an appointment. They allegedly see kids no more than 7 to 10 days after the break, so we're looking at Monday at the latest. And the way our luck has been going, it's going to be Monday.
Making this even harder is the fact that I'm in the middle of a huge training initiative at work (I'm training our 600 plus staff on Office 2007) and haven't been able to take any time off the last two days. In fact I've been working extra after Ros goes to bed. And I'm leaving tomorrow morning for WorldCon. The Sweetie has been holding down the fort and keeping the homefires burning and all those other lovely cliches. In short, he's been living up to his Sweetie name, and I'm going to owe him Big Time. (He has carte blanche to see as many films as he likes at the After Dark film fest next week.)
Ros is handling it all pretty well. She doesn't seem to be in any pain, and is mostly irritated by the cast. And taking full advantage of the fact that we're letting her watch as much TV as she wants. (Okay, the was a major meltdown when we left her with a babysitter on Monday night to see The Decembrists--awesome show, BTW--but otherwise she's been pretty much her normal self. Just immobile.
But she's not letting it slow her down any. I usually put pics up at
baolin, but I thought I'd put a couple up here of Ros in her cast. These were taken on a visit to uni friends of mine who live in the country and have their own trampoline out back. Ros was looking forward to the trampoline and wasn't going to let a little thing like a cast slow her down.
