Job Joy

I'm having an "I love my job" kinda day.

I've been enjoying the new gig, but they've had me focusing on the writing rather than the training part of the Technical Writer/Trainer role since I started. Yesterday, I finally got to do my first bunch of training sessions, and had another two today.

It was awesome.

I really, really like teaching/training/getting up in front of people and showing them cool stuff. And I'm pretty darn confident that I'm good at it. Confirming this was the fact that everyone seemed really happy with the sessions, and a bunch of people complimented me on them. The best was one of the senior Admin. Associates (the gals who pretty much run the place) who told me "I'm glad we finally have a trainer. And I'm really glad it's you."

Awww.

Traumatic as getting laid off was, I seem to have honestly ended up in a better place.

So, let's hear it for having a job you enjoy.

Job joy is a big bloody deal given how much of our lives we actually spend there.

So yay! ♥ *twirls you*

Having a job that makes you miserable is so very much not worth it.

Having a job that makes you happy is totally an awesome thing.

That's awesome!

There must be something in the water. Today was our department retreat. We spent the day at our Wellness Center, playing games indoors and out, eating, and telling each other how much we appreciate each other (the new girl started crying!).

We finished up the afternoon at the University's climbing wall, then headed out for an early happy hour. All on a gorgeous summer day.

Good times.

It's a nice position to be in, after the stress of the earlier part of the year.

*applause applause*

Good for you!

I'm fortunate in that most of my adult life I've been self-employed and in a position where it never felt like 'work'. The odd times when I've had a job and I've had to drag myself out of bed thinking 'I don't want to go there today' have been a statutory lesson in how lucky I've been. Going someplace you like, doing something you like AND getting paid for it = Job Nirvana. ;p

I've mostly had jobs I like, and have been smart enough, eventually, to get out of the ones I despised. But I think this is the first one I've out and out loved.

Here's hoping it keeps up.

Yay! I'm glad everything is working out so well. When I've been teaching a lot (say at the end of the semester) I'm so burned out I never want to do another session again. But if it has been awhile...yes, I miss it. *g* It is great fun to get up there and show people cool stuff that will actually help them.

So, hey, good job, wonderful family, and progress on your BB. Kind of nice, isn't it? *g*

Teaching definitely requires, and uses up, a lot of energy. But it definitely puts me in my happy place. When it's going well, of course. *g*

It's been a good week. *g*

Here's the problem with writing for a living: it then becomes much more of a chore to write for fun when you've got a few spare hours at home. I'm managing it again, but I had about a month of not writing at all.

Hope you had a good day off. That's possibly the best sort of work day of all. *g*

Hurray! I'm so glad you're enjoying your new job after all the stress you went through before getting it. A job you enjoy is a prize indeed - I'm kind of there myself at the moment, which seems odd after several years in the hating-my-job wilderness. It's a strange but fuzzy feeling sometimes. *g*
