Well, That Was Lovely...
Jul. 26th, 2010 12:08 amWe ended up having the most marvelous time at the cottage. Ros had a great time playing with her friend, the Sweetie and I had a lovely time chatting with the friend's parents, and the weather, after threatening thunderstorms, ended up being perfectly acceptable, if not perfect. (Ros' pal is also adopted from China, and we met her parents when we were all waiting for our adoptions to come through. It turns out we all have a lot in common, and we've become great friends in the last few years.)
Here's a pic of the cottage's deck, which pretty much says it all.

It turns out that Ros and her pal have the same swimsuit. We started calling them the Chinese National Swim Team, Canadian Edition every time they suited up at the same time.

Somehow, I also managed to get some writing done, in between the consuming of G&Ts, playing Texas Hold 'Em (an activity which was suggested by our friends after the girls had gone to sleep the first night, and turned out to be quite fun), and the building of an impressive bonfire. (I haven't built a fire for years, but apparently the Girl Guide training never leaves you. I had a roaring fire going in no time.)
Any way, here's the new word count:

That's nearly 2,000 words, and two complete scenes done. Which leaves six scenes to go. I may actually get a first draft of this story done inside 30,000 words, and by the end of the week.

Date: 2010-07-26 07:32 pm (UTC)As for the multi-tasking, I didn't say I was playing Texas Hold 'Em as I was writing. Though that would have been interesting. *g*

Date: 2010-07-26 11:04 am (UTC)Ah card sharking, first you lure them in with an innocent looking weekend away... *g*
It looks gorgeous and idyllic and how nice for the girls to get to spend time together and that you get on so well with the parents.
They're just adorable but then you already know that, right? Right.
Congrats on getting more writing done.
