Jul. 30th, 2010 12:41 amTonight I:
Did the solo mom thing, whilst the Sweetie had a night out
Took Ros to her fave restaurant
Went to the park afterwards
Let Ros help pack for our trip after she was ready for bed
Made potato salad for a work potluck tomorrow
Packed my own stuff up for the trip
Opened my BB story file up and stared stupidly at it without adding a single word
Apart from the failing to write thing, and the fact that I'm now utterly knackered, it was kind of a nice evening.
Also, I acquired the first of the new BBC Sherlock movies and watched it with a pal on Monday night. I LOVED IT! Like, a lot. Loved the interaction between Freeman's Watson and Cumberbatch's Holmes, loved the way they riffed on A Study in Scarlet, loved Mycroft, loved the whole thing. I can't wait to see the next two movies.

Date: 2010-07-30 04:57 am (UTC)Your evening does sound like it was fun, despite having to get stuff done for your trip.
I'm sorry about the knackered part but at least you'll get to relax for the next week and I'm sure the story will all come together then.
I haven't seen it yet as the OH wanted to watch it with me. I've been greatly encouraged by all the positive comments on it. :D
Have a safe and enjoyable trip. ♥

Date: 2010-07-30 01:36 pm (UTC)I'll be curious to hear what you think. It's not a perfect thing, but I enjoyed it an indecent amount. (The riffs on the ACD canon are possibly even more fun that in the movie.)

Date: 2010-07-30 01:41 pm (UTC)And Freeman was indeed delightful. I was a bit worried about his casting--he's always seemed a bit lightweight to me before--but he was a perfect foil to Cumberbatch, and an interesting character in his own right.
They definitely seemed to be throwing down the gauntlet for slash fans to pick up, god bless 'em. And I'm sure there's a slash comm, and I'll be joining it as soon as I get back from vacation. *g*

Date: 2010-07-30 06:42 pm (UTC)I'm glad to hear I wasn't the only one who liked Sherlock. I've always liked Martin Freeman, but wasn't sure about him taking on Watson. I was very much surprised how very much I liked his take on the character.
I had a similar experience with Jude Law in the Holmes movie. I've always appreciated him as an actor, though never loved him, but his Watson completely made the movie. The Sweetie thinks it should be re-titled Watson!, complete with the exclamation mark.
