I should be working on Pros Big Bang type stuff (and you Pros fans out there, you are going to sign up at [livejournal.com profile] ci5_boxoftricks, yeah?) but I've been briefly distracted by Sean Bean and the upcoming Game of Thrones min-series.

I've been waiting for Games of Thrones to air since they announced they were filming the pilot. And now it's nearly here. For fun (and so I can keep track of them) here's the latest trailer for the mini-series. It looks delicious.

And here's a very sweet interview with the Bean about his role in Game of Thrones. He's looking better than he has done in the last couple of years, and he should make an utterly perfect Ned Stark.

I can't wait to see it! Unfortunately, I don't get HBO but I'll see it eventually.

I informed the Sweetie a year ago that we're getting HBO Canada for the run of Game of Thrones. Most things I'll wait for. This I'm not going to.

Oooooooooh, ta for the reminder. :D

It's been a while now that I've been able to think of Bean without thinking of this:

The last time I had this thought in response to someone mentioning Bean, I had a dream where he was slashed with Richard Armitage... Hmmm... sweet *cough* dream. *g*

I might have picked up that season of The Vicar of Dibley expressly for that scene. Not that I'm admitting to anything, mind.

Sean Bean/Richard Armitage slash? Phwooaaarrr. Any chance I could borrow your dreams?

Yeah, I think my warped little brain made the connection through Armitage's appearance in Dibley too... although Armitage was wearing Guy's leathers.

I often have slashy dreams, but nearly always with surprise pairings (un)fortunately. *g*

Armitage is Guy's leathers could be rather...inspiring. (I never could get into that show. I realized I was in trouble with it when I realized Guy of Gisbourne was the only one I was rooting for.)

I think I've only had one, or maybe two fandom influenced dream in my life, and they were not slashy. Although at least one of 'em involved a man in black leather. (Avon, back in my Blake's 7 days.)

Erm... I *loathe* that version of Robin Hood. No, Drayce, tell us what you really think.

My mother read us the adventures of Robin Hood before bed when we were tiny. Yeah, interesting family... She says it's how I learned to read so young because I was too impatient to wait for the next story. In other words, my love for Robin goes back a very long way. If I'm rooting for Guy then it's a terrible version of the story. Still, Armitage in leather? I approve.

I haven't thought of Avon in a long time. It's a series I keep thinking about re-watching as I think MG might like it.

Loathing is not too strong a word for that Robin Hood. I only made through about ten minutes of one ep before I decided it was a dead loss. Except for Armitage, of course.

You should totally re-watch B7. I have plans for vidding that show, some day in the far future when I have plenty of time.

I've been nervous in case it's not as good as I remember. In recent years I re-watched several older things where I really wish I hadn't as my memories of it were so good.

The best of the scripts certainly hold up, as does a lot of the acting. (I have a fondness for Paul Darrow's scenery chewing, though I can never quite decide if he's actually a good actor.) I still think Rumours of Death, Horizon, Orbit and Blake are fantastic. I'm less fond of the first two seasons. And I'd stay right away from dreck like Harvest of Kairos. I can't stand that ep, though I have a friend who adores it because he thinks of it as high comedy.

I think the rewatch'll have to be done as MG's never seen it, he is a bigger SciFi fan than I am so it's nice to find things we can watch together.

If he can handle sets and effects that makes early Doctor Who look like it was made for a million pounds, I'm sure he'll enjoy it. And if he doesn't like it, you'll have me to blame. *g*

Young lady are you trying to cause my brain to melt, as the sheer hotness of idea of Sean Bean / Richard Armitage slash is going to do that.

Well yes, apparently I am. *looks at you icon* And, as it happens, that's what Bean was wearing... at least to begin with. *g*

And that combined with Richard in the leather *wibbles*.

...my work here is done. :D

Y'know, I still haven't found the Bodie/McCoy I thought I'd shoved in a comment to ND. I'm not overly concerned, hey, it would have had to have been someone I know, I think *gulp* but I'd still like to know where it is.

From: [identity profile] saintvic.livejournal.com
Maybe you imagined it but your subconscious, knowing that it would likely cause myself and ND to self combust, stopped you actually writing it.

Although in truth I suspect someone will mention it / it will turn up when you least expect it, the Spanish Inquisition of comment!fic.

No one expects the dodgy crossover smuttage!

I can remember typing away, cackling and then having to stop to take another wine break while I tried to remember/researched a few pictures on whether there's a fly in Starfleet uniforms...

So... erm... I think it's out that somewhere and I didn't keep a copy as I was typing it straight in to a comment box.

I'm really looking forward to this miniseries because I've been told that the plot and characters, especially Lord Stark of Winterfell as a Richard, Duke of York character, seem to parallel the events of the early stages of the Wars of the Roses. It'll be interesting to see how close the miniseries parallels the book, of which I've read only a bit.

I hadn't thought of the War of the Roses parallel, though I can certainly see it.

I adore the books, so I was looking forward to the series even before they cast the Bean.

Oh Sean Bean *happy sigh* and good timing too as I watched Black Death last night. Anyway the trailer does look good and I enjoye the books so I think I'll have to track this one down once it is out.

I saw Black Death at a local genre film fest last October. I was pleasantly surprised. It's a far more subtle story than I was expecting. Plus, Bean with a sword doesn't hurt.

I think it was your review that lead to me putting it on my rental list. Sean with a sword is a good thing. I liked most of it but I could have done with a bit more character development for Sean and the monk guy and I felt they skipped over some plot rather quickly.

It's certainly not a perfect film, nor even great, but I went in with extremely low expectations--Sean has done more than his share of dodgy films--and was pleasantly surprised.
