We got back from up north this afternoon, then went off to a gathering with a couple of other families who adopted through the same agency. And now I am utterly knackered.

But I did want to give big thanks to all those who sent condolences on the passing of my aunt. I hugely appreciated it and will send individual thanks once I've caught up with my sleep again.

The writer of that book was interviewed on CBC a couple of weeks ago. And there is no way I'm going to read it. A chunk of it is devoted to the various ways in which midwives commit infanticide on girl babies. I had nightmares for a week after reading a couple of particularly harrowing anecdotes from the book. I spent all of that week just giving thanks that Rosalind's birth mother had the strength and determination to abandon her at the orphanage.
