It has been one hell of a fucking week. I'm on my third day of being off work, lying on the couch and feeling like crap, and every one of us in the house, except for the cat, has had not one, but two separate bugs this week.



End of Last Week

The Sweetie gets a cold that nearly takes him out for the film fest for a few days

Sunday

Ros throws up a bunch of times

Monday

Ros stays home, and is uncharacteristically lethargic for the whole day, but perks up at night

I start coming down with the Sweetie's cold

Tuesday

I go down for the count with the cold, anticipate a day of rest and recuperation

Ten minutes before she's about to leave for school--ten minutes!--Ros has one last burst of stomach ick

Ros stays home with me; I do not have a day of rest and recuperation

Ros gets stuffy with the cold

Wednesday

I'm still down for the count with the cold

Ros is better, if still stuffy, and can go to school

I have the whole day to sleep

The Sweetie comes home at noon, suffering from the Ros stomach bug

4 p.m., I'm over the cold and finally, finally feeling great; pick Ros up and we splash in puddles on the way home

10 p.m., I feel a little queasy

Midnight, I go down with the stomach bug, spend the entire fucking night running to the bathroom and getting about five seconds of sleep total

Today

Call in sick for third day running

spend day on couch, still feeling queasy, surviving on sips of water

Sweetie mostly on the mend

Clearly, there is some god somewhere that I've pissed off.

I'm hoping I'm feeling better by the end of today, because I do not want to take another day off work. And I'm convinced that the Professional Development sessions I've put together and run for our H.R. team are cursed, because this is the third time I've had to cancel them this year. (The first time was when my aunt died, the second time was another bloody stomach bug in the spring.)

"except for the cat," I suspect that the cat is growing ick cultures in its humans and selling them to research labs around the world. Dont be suprised when you find it speeding down the street in a week or two in a new cat conditioned masarati. Ive seen this before many many times, cats are evil!!

Good heavens - what a bloody horrid week you're having. You poor love - and children and chaps are always sicker than the mommy-person - it's one of The Rules.

This mommy-person always seems to go down harder than the child. (When Ros was a baby, I got pink eye three times; she got it once.) Apparently I need to explain The Rules to the household. :-/

This is one of the most concentrated bout of miserable health we've had around here. On the positive side, both the cold and the stomach bug could have been much worse. But on the negative, I'm really ready to stop feeling quite so icky, thankyouverymuch.

The good times continue to roll. The Sweetie woke up covered in hives this morning! But apart from that glitch, we're all on the mend. (I had soup today! And toast!)
