Well, That's Been Interesting
Oct. 23rd, 2011 10:45 pmI am feeling utterly done in.
It was going to be a busy week anyway--there was a drive to visit friend three cities over through torrential downpours on Wednesday, a late-starting Shonen Knife concert on Thursday, a demo and meet and greet for new white belt students and their parents at Ros' martial arts school on Friday and tickets to the musical Chess yesterday. And that on top of a hellishly busy week at work.
Except Ros developed a minor fever Friday morning, which turned into markedly less minor fever over the course of the day. She's now been spiking fevers of 103-104 for three days. In between the spikes, she's either in a manically good mood of the "I don't have a fever and I feel GREAT" variety, or lying on the couch glassy-eyed and unhappy. (We had to ditch the martial arts demo, and I ended up seeing Chess with a friend whilst the Sweetie stayed home with Ros. We traded off today, with me staying with Le Ros while he went to the After Dark film fest he'd planned on ages ago. He is, hopefully, going to see Chess later this week. It's a brilliant production and it would be a shame for him to miss it.)
Add all of this to finishing the death march to finish my Pros Big Bang story, and I'm pretty much shattered. I was hoping I'd get at least one or two BB stories read this weekend, but that hasn't happened. (Bad mod.) And I was also hoping I'd maybe get a bit of work done on a few of the stories I'd put aside until I finished my BB story, but that didn't happen either. (I've got ideas, but I'm incapable of turning any of those ideas into actual words.)
The one thing I did manage was reading a bunch of A Storm of Swords during the times when Ros was cashed out on the couch but wanted her mom nearby. (In the wake of watching Game of Thrones, the Sweetie has started calling George R.R. Martin, George R'uh R'oh Martin, and yep, he certainly is giving me heart attack after heart attack in this one.) I should be done the book by tomorrow. Tuesday at the latest.
In the meantime, I'm going to hope Ros gets over whatever bug has taken her down soon--the time between fever spikes is getting longer, and she actually ate a real meal tonight for the first time since Friday, so she's getting there--and I'm going to let my brain have the fallow time it clearly needs at the moment.
::sigh::
For fun, have here's Shonen Knife's version of Top of the World. Yes, that would be The Carpenter's song.

Date: 2011-10-24 11:16 am (UTC)Egads, woman, that's the sort of week where even the fun stuff is in danger of starting to feel like work.
I hope you manage to get some rest and that Ros makes a speedy recovery. ♥

Date: 2011-10-24 01:06 pm (UTC)Ros spiked to 103 again last night at 1 a.m., but she was actually normal this morning. Hope this is the end of it.

Date: 2011-10-24 12:01 pm (UTC)I'm almost finished with book two. I admit I've read a bunch of other stuff in the meantime so I don't zip through G0T books very quickly.

Date: 2011-10-24 01:24 pm (UTC)I'm a mere fifty pages from the end of Storm of Swords now. I don't have much time for reading these days outside of my subway commute, so I'm not getting through them too fast, but I'm hoping to get to the final one by Christmas.

Date: 2011-10-24 05:15 pm (UTC)Ros was good this morning and is apparently sliding again now, so it looks like I'll be taking the day off tomorrow and taking her to her doctor.
And can I just say it's great to see you online. When I logged on last night I saw the story about the Turkish quake. It didn't sound like you area, but it was still pretty alarming. (I was going to drop you a line, but my ability to string together coherent sentences had left me by then.) ::big hugs::

Date: 2011-10-24 08:10 pm (UTC)As to the video - this surely is the coolest and loveliest Carpenter's-cover EVER! *grins madly* Also, I think I now have a huge girl crush on the bassist, blimey she's got a beautiful smile! :D
I hope things are better by now - especially for little Ros!

Date: 2011-10-24 11:14 pm (UTC)Shonen Knife are pretty much all adorable.
Ros' fever has spiked again this afternoon--nearly 104!--and the Sweetie looks like he's fading fast. I'm taking my last personal day to look after Ros and taking her to her doctor. I'm hoping we'll be over the worst of it by then.
::sigh again::

::hugs you big time::
Oh, and look! Markie even took out his boots for you (and we know how much he dislikes taking off his BELOVED BIG BOOTS, don't we? *g*):

Date: 2011-10-26 11:00 am (UTC)Your pom pom cheering seems to have worked. Ros is fever free and going back to school today. Yay! Now if I can only get some downtime and get back into the writing flow, all will be well.
