Kaiser Chiefs!

Just got back from seeing Kaiser Chiefs at the Opera House, and it was a fucking brilliant gig. I've never seen a KC show that wasn't brilliant, but this one was even more awesome than usual. We managed to get two rows from the front--forgot my camera though, dammit--and I pogoed to every song in the set. (Apparently the Tae Kwan Do is doing it's job, 'cause I couldn't have done that a year ago.) Ricky was his usual awesome self and whipped the crowd into a frenzy from the start. He stood on the barrier right in front of us to sing one song--man, do I wish I'd had my camera for that moment--and did his usual journey to the bar for a pint in the middle of a show. (I was relieved he didn't crowd surf to the bar like he did that last time he was in town, because my friend and I were in a direct line between him and the bar.)

There was a good mix of old songs and new, but the biggest thing for me was that they did Love's Not a Competition as the first song of the encore. I adore that song, and I've never seen them do it live before, so I was ecstatic. (Shall have to get my Pros vid to that song up on my YouTube channel ASAP.)

Nothing like a good concert *g* I'm glad you had fun! I enjoy a lot of KC stuff (especially 'Loves Not a Competition' for obvious reasons and also 'Angry Mob') but I've never seen them live even recorded, if that makes sense... Sounds like very good value! *g*

I love going to concerts--shocking, I know *g*--and KC are one of those bands I try to see every time they hit town. They have one of the best live acts I've ever seen, and Ricky is fab at getting the crowd going. (Not always an easy thing with Toronto audiences. We can be a frustratingly dour lot at times.)

If you ever want to give their live show a go, their Live at Elland Road disk is a lot of fun. Their productions aren't TT level, but they're a fab rock band.

Our best 'local' band by country mile! First saw them play in Leeds in 2005 and last in Sheffield in 2009, but I'm quite liking their most recent album. And yes - they do a damn good show!

They are fantastic live, aren't they? I last saw them, crikey, in 2008. (Can't believe it was that long ago.) It was the week after we saw Franz Ferdinand do a small club gig, and the Franz show would have gone down as one of the best shows I'd seen, but then the KC show the next week was several orders of magnitude more amazing.

I was a bit iffy on the new album, but it's really growing on me. I've had Little Sparks stuck in my head for days.

BTW, been meaning to get back to about the whole TT Big Bang thing, but it's been a hell of a couple of weeks. But things are about to calm down, slightly, so I'll send you an email in the next day or two.
