Soccer Night, and a Crazy Week

The disadvantage of being the coach, is that you can't skip a game when your kid is sick.

Ros came down with a fever on her birthday, Saturday, and has been down with a horrid cough ever since. We were all hoping she'd be good enough to at least hang out on the sidelines while the Sweetie did the player rotations, but her fever spiked at dinner and she just lost it. So I coached solo, though fortunately with the help of one of the other dads.

On the positive side, we actually won! 3 - 1! We were pretty well matched with the other team (which was coached by Ros' coach from last year) but we managed to get past their goalie a few times more. Yay!

The Sweetie has been home with Ros the last two days, so I'm taking over tomorrow. And taking her for visit number two to her doctor, since the "oh, I'm sure she'll be fine in a few days" we got on Monday clearly isn't working.

Ahhh, boooooo! I mean, congrats for winning, that's great! But poor poor Ros! Being sick AND missing the first win. Not. Fair.

It was our second win, so at least she got to be there for the first one. But yay for winning.

Turns out Ros has pneumonia! Yikes! But at least she's been caught and she's on antibiotics. And with luck we can still go camping this weekend.

We got to see her own doctor today--(it was a fill in on Monday--and she has pneumonia! At least it's now been caught and amoxicillin has been prescribed. But crikey!

Oh poor Ros! But yes, at least it's being treated now. I hope she likes the antibiotics. I had to have several courses for tonsilitis and I hated them, so my Mum mixed them up with icing sugar to a lovely paste *g*

We don't usually have a problem getting her to take medicine. She's still of an age where they're giving her bubble gum flavoured liquid amoxicillin, so it's a pretty easy sell.

I love your mum's solution. Everything's better with icing sugar!

Yeah, I was THAT CHILD that didn't like the special nice flavoured syrups... Heh, she was good - my brother had migraines and couldn't swallow tablets so
she crushed them up and put them on a slice of toast and jam!

I *loved* Calpol though (is that a thing in Canada? strawberry flavoured infant paracetamol liquid) - worth being ill for! I was so pleased when I got bigger and the dose went up from 2.5mls to 5mls *g*

You could read to Ros about Jason getting an antibiotic shot in the bum in the big Take That In Private book - might make her feel she has some advantages? *g*

Your mum was clearly a genius. I'm rather glad Ros isn't THAT CHILD. *g* (Not that there's anything wrong with being THAT CHILD. *g*)

We don't have Calpol, but we've got berry-flavoured Tylenol, which I'm sure is pretty much the same thing. Ros says she really likes it too.

I'd forgotten about Jason and his shot in the bum. I've informed Ros about it and she just gave me a sceptical look.
