The snow stopped by the time we got out of the movie last night (and Point Break is still brilliant, BTW) but we are now officially snowed in. We got up early to go to our family Mandarin class and discovered our plow guy hasn't done our lane yet, and there's no way we're getting the car out any time soon.

On the positive side, because it was the golden hour when I was checking the lane, everything was pretty and I couldn't resist taking a few pictures. Staring with the street leading to our lane.

Here's the view from the front of our house.

And here's the lane way from right in front of our garage. I'm just hoping it gets plowed before I've got to take Ros to rock climbing tomorrow morning.

In other news, four weeks today we leave to China! Aiiieee!

Oh, I love that time of morning with that golden, slanted light. Very pretty pictures.

I'm always happy when my walk to school/work coincides with golden hour. Makes me happy twice a year.

Pictures never quite do it justice. I really do have to get my serious digital SLR out and working.

Thanks for sharing the great photos.

Also, only four weeks until your trip? \o/

Yeah, four weeks to our trip. Again I say, AIIIIEEEEE!

Yep, that's a goodly amount of snow. I love it when the sun comes out the next day, after a snow storm. It's all sparkly and brilliant...as long as you don't have to commute to work in it. *g*

Yay for movies that stand the test of time! And Yay-OMG for the upcoming trip to China!

It's nothing compared to what you get, but it's enough for our city. With our skinny little lots and little to no boulevards, there's not much place to put it. But we went tobogganing this morning and everything did look brilliant. (Of course Monday it's supposed to go up to 6 and rain all day, so that's going to be interesting.)

Yay-OMG for the upcoming trip, indeed. Aiiiieeeeee!

Everything looks so pretty right now, I love it!

They haven't plowed our street either. Yesterday I'm pretty sure every street around us was done at least twice yesterday, but not ours. There was a truck stuck in the snow at the end of my street last night!

It's a really lovely day out there. Brilliant!

As of this morning they'd plowed our street (which is good, because it was pretty grim last night). But the lane belongs to us, not the city, and the dude we've all hired to plow it hasn't shown up yet. Mind you, even if we could get the car out, it'd be bloody difficult to find a place to park it in our part of the city. So let's hear it for the TTC!

Indeed! Although I hear there were some pretty severe delays on the TTC yesterday!

Yeah, sounds like the snow really did in the streetcars. And we were on the Danforth line last night and they had to turn back at Woodbine because the trains couldn't handle the outdoor section at Warden. Yikes!

And here I was chilly at 60ish. Good heavens. I'm sooo glad I'm here! LOL! Snow is pretty to look at but hell to live with.

At 60ish I'd practically be wearing shorts. *g*

You do get used to the snow, but getting around has definitely been a slog today.

I've lived in Pennsylvania and in the Colorado mountains at 8,500 feet near a ski resort, so yeah, I know snow. Which is why I currently live in a tropical place. But not for long!

And more fantastic pictures ♥. Am glad you managed to get out for your movie as well.

It was even lovelier later in the day with the sun sparkling on the snow. I'm sure it'll all be slushy and grey in a couple of days, but for now it's nice to look at, if a bit annoying to get around in.

Wow, looks amazing. (I've seen snow exactly once, on a school trip to Germany). It's 42°C here today.

Have a lovely trip. Holiday?

I grew up in northern Ontario, so I can't imagine winters without snow. Though there are days I'd be willing to give it a go. *g* (42°C? Wow.)

Yep, the trip is a holiday. We're touring around China and ending at Ros' orphanage. Should be cool, if a leetle stressful. For us, anyway. Ros is totally jazzed.

Snow makes everything look softer and so pretty. Glad you still got to see your movie last night.

It was soft and pretty in the morning, and then gorgeous and sparkling the rest of the day. I'm enjoying it while it lasts, and using public transit as much as possible.

Well that looks like 'fun'! We have had snow over here but not, so far, that much in our area. I think the east side of the country was hit worse. We have snow forecast for tonight and I've planned to go out so all my fingers are crossed. I hope you get to the rock climbing!

It actually is sort of fun. Well, not the slogging through snow drifts and not being able to get the car out part. But the snow day off and going tobogganing on a gorgeous sunny day part is. But then we've got the infrastructure to deal with the snow, mostly.

I hope you don't get too badly, though. Just enough that your grandkidlet has a bit to play in.

He has already done some snowman building and snowball throwing this year so I think he'll survive the fact that the snow seems to have decided to give us a miss. I'm back from my evening out and the worst that happened was an attempt to rain - just enough to need the windscreen wipers occasionally but not enough to really say it was raining! However, it was very very cold - maybe too cold to snow!

So pretty! That is a lot of snow though! Hope you're staying warm and safe m'dear :)

It's apparently the most snow we've had in five years, so yeah, it is a lot. But it's sort of fun. And on the positive side, it's really not been that cold, so yay! Hanging out in the snow when the temperatures aren't too bad is mostly pretty fun. (Yes, I'm slightly crazy. *g*)
