Soccer Night: Game One!

Tonight was the kick off of the soccer season. It looks like we've got a good bunch of kids, and the parents are nice as well.

The weather, on the other hand, was a bit on the dodgy side. It rained through most of the game, though on the positive side, it wasn't bucketing down, and it wasn't too cold. And hey, it's not a soccer season if you haven't had a game in the rain.

The score was 3 - 2 for the other side, which is fine because our kids kept it close and they all had a good time. Well, except for Ros, when she got stomped on the top of her foot with a cleat. That required some serious hug therapy.

In other non-footie news, Ros has informed me that she wants to audition for her school talent show by singing Wooden Boat. She's going to confuse the heck out of her classmates, but I'm a proud mum.

Guitar-playing Jason approves. *g*

As long as everyone has fun, it's all good. Not having blow out scores is also good.

Ros wouldn't tell me how the audition went over the phone, so I may have to wait to hear the story in person.

That sounds like a good start of the season, apart from Ros's injury of course.

Wooden Boat, that's brilliant, and definitely unique ;) So her interest for Take That hasn't worn off by now? Good parenting. *g*

At least the injury was only a brief blip in the game. But she was miserable while it was hurting.

She's not quite as into TT as before, but Wooden Boat has remained her firm favourite. I'm not quite sure it's good parenting so much as blind luck.

(soundofthesurf and I are looking forward to seeing you in Frankfurt. I'll drop you a proper message once I'm back from the convention so we can do a bit of planning.)

So delighted to hear Ros' audition choice! Tell her I think she's got great taste (it's a charming song and actually very suitable for a young/learning singer) if 'someone on the internet approves' isn't too weird for her! *g*

One of my players said what my mom always told me about rain: "You're not made of sugar; you won't melt!"

Ros had the audition Thursday, but wouldn't tell me over the phone how it went (beyond "ok") so I think I'll have to wait until I'm home from the convention to find out the details.
