I'm still working to get a post ready about my Frankfurt trip and Mark's concert, but in the meantime, I've been debating the fashion merits of the jacket Mark's been wearing to a lot of the gigs with [livejournal.com profile] cenea. (Among the many reasons I love Mark is his striking but sometimes wacky fashion sense. Which means sometimes I love his outfits, and sometimes, not so much.) We got a more classic white jacket in Frankfurt.

I am...not fond of this jacket. But Ros had the best reaction to it when she saw this pic of it on Tumblr.

Mark in Berlin

Me: Whaddaya think, Ros? Do you like Mark's jacket?
Ros: I like it. ::pause:: But I want to colour it in.

Hee.

I can't get past trying to work out what's going on with his hair.

In other news, I shall grab my big box of crayons and join Ros.

Markie's the original floppy-haired pop star. His hair has a life of its own.

Ros totally has the right idea with that jacket, though, doesn't she? *g*

I've seen the floppy hair before, it's that particular picture where he looks almost like he has a pincurl bun going on right on the top of this head.

Like I said, it's got a life of it's own. Sometimes it's like he's the super-smiley version of Medusa.

What a completely brilliant response!!

Isn't it, though. *g*

Yeah, I'm with Ros on that one (well, I'm not sure I like it, but I definitely want to attack it with a box of crayola's best *g*)

I pretty much hated that jacket before she said that. Now I really want to colour it in too. *g*

Ros definitely has the right idea. That is an extremely questionable jacket (I'm sure I have an 80s primary school photo of me wearing a sleeveless shirt with exactly that pattern somewhere...), but some colouring-in would definitely improve it!

Love Ros response! Brilliant :)

Hm, what to say about that jacket? It's a very...interesting jacket ;) It's so typical Mark to wear something like that :) "Wacky fashion sense" - exactly! But like you said, that's one of the reasons why we love him. I quite often wonder where does he find all these odd things to wear *g*

Ros' response is the best!

That jacket is very...interesting. *g* Really, it's very Mark, and I theoretically love it for that, I just wish I think that it was tailored to him better. But I totally want to know wear he shops. (I wonder if he still does the thrift shop thing on occasion. *g*)

Yeah, the shape of that jacket is not too flattering.

Oh, the thrift shop thing; maybe that's where he finds all the interesting clothes! *g* He really seems to like clothes with crazy patterns. I'm thinking of all the patterned shirts we've seen him wear over the years :)

That jacket is so very Mark, but also so very questionable. I love that you've got a primary school photo in a similarly patterned shirt. And yep, now I really want to colour it in. *g*

We got that jacket in London! Bless him, he had to take it off halfway through - too hot, methinks.

I think I'm the only one in this comment section who wants that jacket for my own desperately! XD But then, I'm a graphic designer, so I think it's expected of me to want that sort of thing. Ros has the best idea though - I'd totally do that if I owned one of those!

I'll bet he had to take the jacket off. It looks like it would be massively hot even without stage lights blazing down on him.

I like the jacket in theory. My chief complaint is really that it needs to be tailored to him better. But Ros' idea is ace. It would be totally amazing coloured in. ;-)

I adore Mark's quirky fashion sense ♥

My friends and I had been debating the hat he's been wearing lately before the gig (the really big one - it's just beyond awful!)... and then he came on stage wearing this jacket and carrying the hat in his hand. Haha, we all went like "Nooooo!" He only put on the hat for a moment during the concert - then someone shouted "Take it off!" and he went "You sound like my wife!" I immediately gave Emma about a 1000 sympathy points, lol. And thankfully he also took off the jacket at some point.

Ros' reaction is priceless - someone should tell his kids to have a go at it with some colouring pens :D

I adore Mark's fashion sense too, not least because it so often matches my own. (Waistcoats, hats, brocade as a fabric choice, I've got 'em all in my wardrobe. Which is no doubt part of why Mark has risen so quickly in my affection. *g*) I'm even fond of that crazy thing he wore to the 2011 Brits.

But oh, that hat. I really, really hate that hat. It's a perfectly fine hat, but the brim is far too wide for his height. And I say that as an even more diminutive person than Mark with a similar affection for hats. (We got the hat briefly in Frankfurt, but he quickly took it off again.) And yep, Emma definitely gets about 1000 sympathy points. *g* Though I also have to say that it is a long-standing policy with me that I never tell the Sweetie that he should or shouldn't wear something. Not unless he asks. *g*

Someone should definitely tell his kids to have a go at the jacket with colouring pens. *g*

I completely agree about the hat - I personally love Mark's hair so if it was up to me he would never wear any hats at all but the ones he used to wear around... was it The Circus?... were fine but this one? As you said, too big! No wonder Emma hates it too, lol.

And I absolutely adore Mark's quirky fashion sense, even though it makes me *facepalm* a lot but somehow I think that's part of the charm ;) I completely forgot about that... thing at the Brits, I think all the Willowen love made up for the fact that it looked like Mark had chosen a cardigan that was at least 5 sizes too big and had been ripped apart by his dog *lol*

You're right that Mark's hair shouldn't be hidden. But if he must hide it, he really needs to rethink which hat he's going to hide it with.

It's kind of amazing that those Brits were my introduction to TT and Mark. (I think my reaction went along the lines of "Wow, I love this song! Wow, I love that guy's voice! Wow, what the hell is he wearing?!") Your description of that garment is 100% accurate, and yet I still sort of love it. (The *facepalm* is totally part of Mark's charm. *g*)

Mark has worn some awful things over the years *lol* I think the worst has to be the pink blouse-thing he wore for the Princess Diana concert around 2007-2008... That was just the least manly piece of clothing I've ever seen!

During the old TT days, he used to be so fashionable - and I kinda think afterwards, when finally no one was telling him what to wear anymore, he went all out and started having his own, super quirky fashion sense. He also did a lot of weird stuff with his hair back then. I still shudder thinking about the blonde highlights...

See, I actually love that pink blouse thing, precisely because it is the least manly piece of clothing I've ever seen. *g* But my favourite look for him, hair and clothing, is the Patience video. Love the Hobbit hair, and love that coat and scarf combination. And I think he's just at his most beautiful there. (Hence, the icon. *g*)

Ah, the blond highlights...not his finest hour.

I LOVED the hobbit hair - he looked so cute at that time ♥ And it was the time of the comeback so I pretty much loved everything about it anyway. I liked the way he had his hair for The Ultimate Tour - just a little shorter than the hobbit hair that followed :) And around the time when they recorded Progress (not his best time personally, but definitely a good time for hair :P)
