Astronauts and Teddy Bears and Zombies, Oh My.

I love msmoat's Post About Your Fandom Weekend idea, and wanted to contribute, even though my current fannish interests are far removed from Pros--some day I really want to interrogate my muse about how its interests changed from spies, special agents, and scruffy men with swords to a boyband, but for now I'm just enjoying the ride *g*--and I'm gong to make it just under the wire for it still being the weekend.

In the wake of the Frankfurt concert--which is still putting a monster grin on my face two weeks later--I thought I'd do a mini-Mark post. I've been meaning to do a new Mark Owen post for, oh, weeks now, but RL always seems to take precedence. But I've got a few spare minutes now, so I'm going to go for it.

At some point I'll do an emo!Mark post. And there's always the ever popular sweaty-and-performing!Mark, not to mention the dubious-and-awesome-fashion-choices!Mark. But today I'm going to focus on smiley!Mark. And yes, there will be astronauts and teddy bears and zombies.

First up is one of the best smiley!Mark pics from the current round of publicity. Mark has one of those truly infectious smiles, and this is a perfect example.


The video for Mark's single Stars had him wandering around Berlin in a spacesuit, which resulted in some pretty adorable behind the scenes pictures. Like this one.


Mark is the only fortysomething who could sit beside the Paddington statue in Paddington station and come out more adorable than the bear.


Even in the face of the zombie apocalypse, Mark can't help but smile. (This pic is from an event Mark did with his wife, put on by, wait for it Zed Zombie Survival Events. Honestly, I'm not making that up! It's like the universe decided I needed an actual photo reference for the TT zombie prequel I'm thinking of working on, and added the name of the event company just for a lark.)

soundofthesurf sent me that pic when it was circulating. I think I initially missed it because I was in China. It's awesome, isn't it? And even funnier for me since I've written that TT zombie story. (Or rather, a Pros zombie story with major TT content. *g*)

Zed Zombie Survival Events! Haha, that's just great! I have to admit that when I first saw the pics from that event back in March, I thought of you and your zombie story :) It really made me laugh, and at that time I didn't even notice the name; Zed Zombie...! Makes it even more funny, just perfect *g*

All the pics in your smiley!Mark post are adorable ♥ And Mark must be the only fortysomething man wearing Ugg boats in the middle of the summer ;)

Ah, the Ugg boots. I think Mark is the only human being wearing Ugg boots in the summer. ;-) Though to be fair I think the weather hadn't quite warmed up when that was taken. (The Uggs are definitely going in a future Mark's Dubious Fashion Choices post. *g*)

Hehe,I now notice that my spelling of "boots" was not quite right, but thankfully you understood that I meant "boots" and not "boats" :P. Yeah, maybe it was a bit chilly when this picture was taken, but I have seen other pics of Mark wearing Uggs when it obviously is quite hot. He probably just want to keep his feet warm *g*. Well, I have read somewhere that wearing Uggs in the summer is, or has been, quite trendy amongst young female celebs :)

Yes, the Uggs certainly has its place in a Mark's Dubious Fashion Choices post. At least the Uggs in your picture are not as bad as other Uggs I've seen him wear ;)

I didn't notice the name when I first stumbled upon the zombie pictures! That's brilliant. *g* And I believe there's a Zombie story I haven't read yet! :D Those pics though, the zombie types trying their best to look all scary and Mark just smiling like crazy, he enjoys every occasion where he can dress up (even if it's just a little) to the fullest.

I'm afraid I'll try and subtly hint on the emo!- and sweaty-and-performing!Mark posts sometime in the future, just in case you forget ;) (End of my comment-bombing. The rock climbing looks totally cool btw.)

Mark + Paddington = Awesomeness!

There's two zombie stories so far: Babylon Is Fallen is the first one, and is just a Pros story. 'Til We Have Built Jerusalem is the sequel, and that's where the TT boys show up. And I do want to do a TT prequel to show how they all end up together in London. (Although I'm afraid that's going to end in Gary being eaten by zombies. *eg* But hopefully Rob protecting Mark will make up for it.)

Do remind me about those Mark posts. I've got most of the pics pulled for them. It's just a matter of getting them into some sort of coherent order and coming up with a commentary. Which always takes longer than I think it's going to.

YAY because of the new video! The material for S.A.D. is so full of smiley!Mark (how fitting :p). And a very big yay for behind the scenes material!! I'd kill to get my hands on all the footage they filmed, but this is a very good start.

Thanks for the links, will make time to read soon, can't wait! I'm totally sold by the Rob protecting Mark part, I'll gladly see Gary being eaten by zombies if that's your price. *g* (Poor, poor Gary :p)

It would be such a shame if your ideas for these posts would go to waste, so I will ;)

Yay for a new video! But boo that it's not available in Canada! (The Stars making of wasn't either.) Shall have to see if it's on iTunes UK, and if not, then try and find a workaround. ::iz sad::

You can probably read the second story without reading the first, if The Professionals doesn't float your boat. (The first one is a riff on 28 Days Later, with all of the survivors ending up in a castle in Scotland. The second story takes up with a search for the cure.) I make an allusion to Gary being eaten in the second story, because I'm mean. ;-)

I'm committed to not letting those post ideas go to waste. \o/

Oh no! That's so annoying and I still haven't looked up why they do that exactly. I uploaded the video to dropbox, the quality went down unfortunately, but if you haven't found the vid yet, you should be able to watch on there..

I don't know anything about The Professionals but I think I'll give reading the first story a go anyway, to get the full experience ;) Haha totally mean, I'm afraid I'm even meaner for really wanting to read that now ;)

Aw, smiley!Markie is indeed delightful *g* And I love the roughed-up-but-happy of the last one (next to big rough beardy men with guns! this is why he is happy *g*) The first pic might be my favourite of the pack, though - I love how deep his smile lines are *g*

Smiley!Markie is a wonderful thing. I was sad that none of my pics from the Frankfurt concert had him smiling. He certainly smiled enough, but every time I'd try to capture it, the pic didn't work out.

Roughed-up-but-happy-next-to-big-rough-beardy-men-with-guns is a good look for him. *g* (I'm going to pull out this pic often when I get back to work on the TT zombie prequel.)

That first pic is wonderful. I was going to mention his smile lines in the post. I love faces that look well-lived-in, that illuminate character, and those smile lines tell a great deal about him.
