Soccer: Game Thirteen, with Bonus Pic
Aug. 14th, 2013 12:57 amThe days are getting shorter, and there's a hint of autumn in the air, which made it a mostly nice night for soccer. Except that the players who were off got a bit chilly. As did their coaches. But that was okay, because we played an epic game.
We were playing the team just ahead of us in the standings (I finally checked the standings; they're number two, we're number three, out of six teams) and they're really tough. Mostly because they have one girl on their team who's a soccer prodigy. Though interestingly, while she was running rings around everyone on the field last year, she's only just a bit better than everyone this year. Everyone else is catching up with her fast.
We were missing our best player again, but everyone else really stepped up their game. One of the twins on our team has become a real spitfire, and her sister was fantastic in goal. Every single player, including Ros, had moments when they just dug in and took it away from the other team. All of the parents, even the completely non-sporty Sweetie, told us how exciting they'd found the game at the end. Which we could kind of tell by how much they were getting into cheering.
callistosh65 requested pics last week, and while I didn't manage any during the game (I'm trying to do the end of season evaluations) I did scan Ros' official soccer pic of the year.
You will notice that just before the pic was taken, Ros pulled her socks all the way up. (I was too busy herding the rest of the team to notice until the deed was done. But at least she's cute enough to pull off the look. *g*)
