Things have been a bit hectic for weeks, both at work and home, but I did manage to finish my Yuletide story, and even a bit before time.

Today I had a bit of enforced down time, courtesy of an ice storm that's pounded Toronto and southern Ontario the last couple of days. We were lucky enough not to lose power, but a few blocks north of us they weren't so lucky. But even though we still have power, there are branches and whole trees down all over the neighbourhood. Like this:

Here's a few prettier pics of the ice around our house.

How magical and pretty it looks, and so very Christmassy! And cold.... I hope those branches didn't damage anything on the way down.

It's Christmassy, but very dangerous. Branches took out powerlines, cars, and a big one landed on a neighbour's roof. Thankfully, our power is still on and we're safe and undamaged.

Oh, dear, ice storm! It is pretty but a royal pain to have to deal with. I hope your power stays on and it melts soon. I love snow, but ice…

Congratulations on finishing your Yuletide story!

Definitely pretty and definitely a pain. But the power is still on, so that's good. And we may even get a melt in a few days, though I'm not going to count on it.

Ice is way worse than snow.

Even though it's deadly, it does look pretty in pictures.

So very beautiful, those trees that are still standing! But wow! I have a couple of friends who have moved from Britain to Canada, and your photos have just brought home to me how different things will be for them this Christmas!

All the best for continued warmth and power!

Canadian winters are a whole different thing to British ones. I hope your friends manage their first year in Canada. (Mind you, if they're on the west coast, they'll have a much milder winter than we get.)

Warmth and power still on. Yay!

It's a good thing it looks nice, because otherwise it's a whole lot of no fun. Be we're safe and warm, so that's all right.

Beautiful pictures but I'm glad we don't usually get ice storms here!

You should definitely be thankful that ice storms aren't in your weather's repertoire. They're beautiful, but the aftermath can be more than a bit scary.

Well, on the positive side, it's actually not nearly as cold as it's been the last few weeks. Which is good, because it's been bloody cold. ;-)

My kidlet's friend says her family has no power. They've been told that they might have it by 11 pm tomorrow night. Not good.

Stay safe!

I'll have my fingers crossed they get their power back soon. They're saying some people might not have it until the weekend. Yikes!

Congrats on finishing your story! That ice storm made the Los Angeles television news. Brrr! Scary!

I somehow managed to finish the story before there was panic. Yay!

As for the ice storm making the news, yikes!

What pretty pretty photos! But I'm not sure I'd want to have been in the middle of it - we had some pretty wild storms last night and there are photos of trees down all over the place, but I can't imagine if this country had to cope with ice storms too!

Hope you and The Sweetie and Ros have a lovely Christmas Petal <3

We were miraculously spared the worst of things, but our neighbourhood has been hit hard. (According to the Toronto Hydro website, of 12,000 houses in our area, 9,000 are without power. That's my luck for the year, then.)

I'd heard you had bad storms over there as well. Hope you and yours are safe and cosy!

Have a lovely Christmas!

That's very pretty but eeeeep! Must have been quite a storm! I'm glad you guys are OK.

Yay Yuletide! Open soooooooon! *rubs hands*

Merry Christmas honey ♥

Pretty, and crazy destructive. I nearly drove into a power line last night. (I'd been getting cocky about things being better. Not so much.)

I can't believe Yuletide opens so soon! I'm just sad I didn't have time to write any treats. I've been saving interesting pinch hits, and there's a bunch I even have ideas for.
