The Sweetie Strikes Again, and New Writing Challenges

So yesterday we're driving to a friend's place for brunch. To keep me alert, I was playing a Take That compilation I'd made, and it was on We All Fall Down, a B-side of Mark's. (This will be relevant.) All of a sudden, the Sweetie pipes up:

Sweetie: I see a Castiel vid.
Me: ::confused by apparent this non sequitar:: What?
Sweetie: The lyrics of this song, "We all fall down from the sky...Looking for a way back up again." It would make a good Castiel vid.
Me: ::starts laughing hysterically::
Sweetie: What?
Me: Oh my god, you're right. It would totally work. I can't believe you noticed that.
Sweetie: I've heard this song a lot.
Me: ::laughs again::
Sweetie: Supernatural and Take That. I blame you.
Me: ::keeps laughing::
Sweetie: Wow, did I blow your mind?
Me: A little.

I'm seriously tempted to try making that vid. In my copious amounts of spare time.


In other news, I've signed up for a couple of writing challenges.

After getting a couple of dodgy prompts I couldn't do anything with and taking last year off, I've signed up for picfor1000 again this year. My prompt would be challenging if Pros were my only fandom, but I should be able to do something with it for TT.

I also signed up for another trope_bingo card. It's not quite as inspiring as my last one, and every line has both an interesting prompt and one I've got no idea what to do with, but I'll give it a go.

My first thought with that prompt would be something Bladerunner-ish.

Do you know, I think I quite like that trope bingo card. I think I might have managed something with that one. Is it bad if I use it for prompts? :)

As for the sweetie... clearly slashing is a transmissible occupation. Mine occasionally comes up with comments and suggestions, always framed as 'I suppose you would think...'

Oooh, a Pros/Bladerunner crossover would be kinda cool. But how to do it in 1,000 words? Hmmm...

Feel free to use any of those prompts you like. More fanfic in the world is always a good thing.

I don't quite know that I transmitted the whole slashing thing to the Sweetie. As soon as he found out about slash he pretty much was right there with the concept. (This suggestion of his was better than usual. He usually goes for the goofy. One of his last ones was "What if Howard Donald was split into two people, one named Howard and one named Donald?" I think I hit him for that one.)

And ah yes, my partner in crime is also inclined to the goofy stuff. He keeps coming up with ideas more suited to Scooby Doo. Something tells me he's not taking it seriously...

Sometimes the goofy stuff ends up working. He's the one who found the song Gay Bar and then insisted I vid it. (He pretty much haunted my computer while I was doing that one to see if I had any new footage he could watch.)

I honestly couldn't stop laughing in the car for about five minutes. Because I just didn't see that one coming.

I have to admit, I sort of signed up for the new trope bingo round accidentally. I read the wrong set of rules and thought the hc_bingo amnesty period was closed. Ah, well, it's just one more thing to get the creative juices flowing.

Ooh, good luck with the bingo card. Hope you get some good ones. And yay for you writing for the Pros Big Bang. Here's hoping it hits one of the tropes you get. (I'm afraid I don't have any good, long Pros ideas at the moment. Although I've got 6 or 7 ideas for long TT stories. My muse apparently has completely become a boy band fan.)
