There was rain again today (of course there was; it's Tuesday!) but it cleared off this afternoon, well ahead of game time. The only downside was that when the sun came out around game time, it got awfully muggy, awfully fast.

It was a bit of a tense game today. We were playing the team that hasn't won a game, but in spite of their record, they were quite good and scrappy. But they were hamstrung by only having one spare player. We had enough players for two full lines, but we spent the first half playing really sluggishly again. Our best players would hang back and let the other team take the ball forward.

They scored first, which gave us a bit of a scare. We evened it up, with a bit of difficulty. Then in the second half we seemed to perk up much more and scored two more, for a 1 - 3 result. (I missed one of our goals because I turned to see our goalie had somehow managed to get the cleats of one of her soccer boots stuck in the netting of the goal. I don't even know how that happened, but the coaches' of the other team, who were closer to her, managed to untangle her.)

Ros had a good game, in spite of the slow start for everyone. She was really running down the ball, had an assist on one goal, and came close to scoring herself. She had the ball in front of the net on her own for a few good seconds, but she did her usual overthinking thing and waited a tad too long to kick it in. They'd recovered their defense by the time she tried to kick it in.

Now I'm trying to pull together enough players for our first rain out re-scheduled game on Friday. It turns out Ros can play it after all. I'd got tickets to the Women's U20 World Cup on Friday so I thought we were busy. But the tickets were actually for two games in the group round, a 5:00 and a 8:00, and when they finally sent me the tickets today and I found out that the 8:00 game is the Canada one, which is the one we care about. So Ros will get to play in her game (which she's been pushing to do), see a Women's World Cup game, and stay up really late. It's win-win-win for her.
