Take That's tour opened last night, and after about five seconds of debating whether to avoid Tumblr so I could see the show unspoiled in June I caved and went looking for pics and a setlist.

It looks like they've done their usual batshit crazy/amazing design job for the show. Like this:

I showed the pic to the Sweetie, who has been facing the prospect of attending a Take That show with all the fortitude of a man facing his own execution. He was actually impressed.

Sweetie: Wow, I'm sort of looking forward to this show now.

We'll have him singing along to Never Forget yet. *g*

Now he knows he can spend the entire time looking at the special effects and ignoring the men!!

Actually, it's not the men he needs to ignore. (He rather likes Howard, and has admitted they're all adorable in interviews.) It's the music. *g*

But I catch him humming TT songs on occasion so maybe he'll be won over at the show. Or not.

And then - he can write fic! :D

Or not. (Maybe we won't mention this to him... just yet.)

Trust me on this, you do not want him writing fic. You really don't.

He'd just come up with something like this.

Yeah, it might be Not A Good Thing - but he *is* kind of cute about it. :-)

He's adorable even when he's being obnoxious. It's why I keep him. *g*

I couldn't keep away either so I've been watching lots of pics and videos. The show looks amazing from what I've seen, very colourful ☺. Really looking forward to experience it all live later in May.

I'm glad I'm not the only one who's going in spoiled. It does look pretty amazing. I love those long white coats, and just saw a pic showing what happens with them when they put lights on them. Pretty amazing.

Have you watched the Flaws dance routine yet? I've seen a few pics of it, but I'm not watching videos of any of the numbers. Does it work, do you think. (That's the one moment I thought could either be amazing or not quite work, but I've got my fingers crossed because I do love the thought of Mark and Howard working together.)

In a way it's a shame having seen so much ahead of going to the show, but I'm just too curious to stay away from all the spoilers. I just saw a pic tonight with the white coats and it looks pretty cool. Also love the very colourful suites they wear in the beginning of the show.

Yes, I have watched the Flaws dance routine and I do think it works really well. So ok I'm probably biased, but that routine is just so quirky and totally unexpected, and I love it! 😛 And it really is lovely seeing Mark and Howard working together 😍

I can't resist at least looking at the pics. And I've decided checking out setlists ahead of time is an entirely reasonable way of avoiding disappointment on the night of when the one song I'm really looking forward to doesn't turn up. (I am very, very sad that there's none of Mark's songs from the new album, nor Kidz on the setlist, but now I can get over that and just enjoy the concert.) I've drawn the line at videos for now, because I do want there to be some surprises. There'll be time enough to seek out videos after the concert.

Glad to hear you think the Flaws routine works. Quirky and unexpected is exactly what I want from Take That, really. And Mark and Howard working together is always a good thing.

When are you seeing them? I've now got tickets for two dates, June 6 and 12, both in London. (I'll have just landed on the 6th, so I'm really hoping TT awesomeness overcomes jetlag. *g*)

I'm a bit ambivalent about watching videos in advance. I want to be surprised too but becasue I'm only going to one show I also feel that I need to know something about what's going on so I don't miss some important moment, if that makes any sence?

I agree with you about the setlist, I had hoped, and also thought, that at least one of Mark's songs from III would have been included. I think that especially Into The Wild could have been great live.I'm pleased though that they finally has got rid of A Million Lovesongs 😛. But it's the same with the singles they are realising from III, with the next one being Higher Than Higher, only Gary's songs so far. I was hoping for Lovelife or Into The Wild.

I'm seeing them May 30 in Manchester. Good for you seeing them twice. I'm sure TT will "cure" any jetlag☺.

I can totally understand wanting to know what to focus your attention on when you're only seeing one show. I'm very lucky to be seeing two. I'd only planned on one show, but then Halo let me know she was going on the 6th and I managed to get a ticket near hers that wasn't too hideously expensive.

Into the Wild is my favourite song off III, and I'd been really hoping to hear it live. No one is more relieved than me to see A Million Love Songs off the setlist, though. *g* There's TT songs I like more and like less, but I loathe that one. I am getting rather tired off all the singles from III being Gary's. I suspect the power balance has shifted in the band, not for the better from my point of view. :-/

I'll look forward to hearing what you think of the show. I'd have loved to see them in Manchester.

Agree about Into The Wild, it's a great song and it's a shame it's not included. Haha, I'm glad I'm not the only one not liking A Million Love Songs ☺.

I think you are right about the power balance. I had expected that it would be quite many songs with Gary on lead vocals on III, but it was actually worse than I had feared, and now with all the singles being Gary's it really is tiresome.

Yeah, seeing them in Manchester will be good fun and it will also be my first visit to Manchester.

I foolishly thought with only three of them that there'd be more equity on the albums and in concert. I think Howard and Mark both got more songs when Jason was still around. (Yet another reason to miss Jason. ::sob::)

Some day I shall make it to Manchester, hopefully for a TT gig.

With only three of them I had hoped for another kind of balance, but with Gary's big success with his solo album and tour last year (and Mark's lesser success 2013) I suspected that what we see now would happen. The belief is perhaps that "everyone" wants to hear just Gary's voice...

I have no idea why Gary's album did so well and Mark's didn't. (Even when I saw it on sale for 3 pounds I wasn't tempted to pick up Gary's album, but I still listen to all Mark's albums all the time.) And I did hope Gary wouldn't totally hog the spotlight where singles were concerned, and Mark wouldn't let him.

Ah well, I'm sure once we're at the O2 it'll all be pure pleasure! *g*

It really is a mystery. I was both shocked and sad when I read the sales figures for TAODN. It deserved to do so much better.

It would be very interesting to hear them discussing the singles choices, how they choose the songs.

I didn't look at the TAODN sales figures because I heard they were...not good, and I didn't want to be depressed on Mark's behalf.

I doubt they'll ever give another documentary crew the access they did for LBDS, but it would be fascinating to see how the dynamics have changed this time 'round. (I rather suspect that Howard sides with Gary when it comes to a difference of opinion between Mark and Gary, but that's just a guess.)

That was a good strategy, not to look at the sales figures for TAODN because it was very depressing :-( I'm just hoping that Mark is not discouraged from releasing more solo music in the future. That would be such a shame.

I would love another documentary but like you said, it probably will never happen. My guess is also that Howard sides with Gary if it comes to that, they seem to be very close.
