I booked a Harry Potter walking tour of London through Muggle Tours today. It runs from London Bridge to Leicester Square, so it'll cover some cool territory even without the Harry Potter thing.

The Sweetie has taken to singing "My Patronus" to the tune of "My Sharona." He is evil.

Finally saw Age of Ultron tonight. I liked it. Not loved it (at this point I think that would have taken lots of Steve moping about Bucky, and then him and Sam going off to bring Bucky into the Avengers fold, followed by lots of OT3 sexy tiems, but then that's why I read fanfic) but liked it a lot. What I did love was Paul Bettany as The Vision. And I thought Natasha and Bruce were sweet together. But I was rather annoyed that Jeremy Renner being a sexist ass on the Marvel promotional tour has rather soured me on Clint Barton's character, because Barton was basically a good guy in the film.

I got Ros and I tickets to see a Canada v. England friendly match on the lead up to the women's World Cup. Still a little bitter that the world cup is in Canada, but Toronto doesn't get any games. WTF, FIFA?

Soccer season is gearing up. I'm coaching Ros' team again this year, and I've drafted the Sweetie to be lineup guy again. He's even got an official coach t-shirt this year. I picked up the uniforms yesterday, and will be meeting the team and handing them out on Saturday morning. It'll be my fourth year coaching, and yet again there are no kids we know on the team except for three of Ros' friends who requested Ros as their teammate. (Getting the four girls on the same team is totally awesome, though. The club's head coach definitely likes us!)

The Renner thing just reminded me why I try and avoid press stuff if possible, because someone is always going to open their mouth and insert their foot, one way or another. And then there's the possibility of doubling down on it, as Renner did, by making an insincere apology. Dumbass.

In terms of Hawkeye 'characterisation' (and I use that term advisedly with anything Whedon touches in MCU), I'm afraid that my head-canon for him is all Hawkguy and Pizza Dog, so I don't recognise the one in the movie. I'm so glad Whedon is done now, that Cap3 and the next Avengers movies are going to be by the guys who directed Winter Soldier, I think their grasp of the characters is much more nuanced.

Also, needed more Sam. I did wonder, however, how long the 'new' Avengers line-up would last in Hollywoodland, given that it only has one white guy on it! :P

I didn't go looking for press stuff, but it was hard to be on Tumblr and not see the Renner stuff. I've somehow forgiven Evans (okay, mostly because I adore Cap, and he seemed clueless rather than malicious about the whole thing) but Renner continues to double down on his asshattery. Twat.

I don't know comic canon at all, so I didn't have a huge problem with the characterizations, but I have to say I am relieved that the Winter Soldier guys are doing the next one. Winter Soldier is my favourite of all the movies so far by a long shot.

More Sam would have been appreciated. And I've got my fingers crossed for the new line-up, but you're right that they're probably going to want more white guys. Twats.

Yep, I would never have seen anything about all this if it weren't for Tumblr. I get the feeling Evans probably also got a serious talking to from his mum, since he seems to have a bit more of a clue about what's okay/not okay to say and how to apologise if you cock up.

If you ever get the chance to read the recent run of Hawkeye comics written by Matt Fraction, I highly recommend them. The basic premise is that it's about what Hawkeye does on an average Thursday, when he's not being an Avenger - the answer being, live in a shitty building in NY, end up rescuing a half-blind dog that's being mistreated and get in trouble with tracksuit-wearing Russian Mafia guys. There's even an issue told entirely from the dog's perspective. That Hawkeye just feels more real for me than 2-dimensional happy families in rural Nowheresville.

Winter Soldier is my favourite too - it just worked so well and showed what a less hackneyed bunch of writers and directors can do with the same characters. Having seen that, I wish they'd done the two Avengers movies as well, but at least we have Cap3 to look for, which is probably going to kill me with feels. ;)

Ooh, enjoy the walking tour! If it ends in Leicester Square, you will be right by the 'official' West End ticket booth, if you fancy trying to get last-minute tickets for a show.

Soccer season! Oh, you have reminded me of sitting there with your sweetie as you ran the games, and how much I enjoyed it - thank you!

Oh, the ticket booth suggestion is a good one. Though that will entail talking the little girl into theatre. Shall research Ros-friendly shows.

It was so awesome that you got to com to a game whilst you were here! Very glad you enjoyed it.

I did love AoU, but I totally agree about the OT3 sexy tiems. *g* We shall have to hold out hope for Civil War to deliver! Paul Bettany was AH-MAZE-INGGGG as The Vision - I was mesmerised by his eyes, his cape and his snark. Renner needs to think before he opens his mouth tbh, and he needs a clip round the ear from Scarlett and Ruffalo. I love Clint, but I am in the same boat now with Renner spoiling things with his stupid fratboy behaviour. Such a shame.

Good luck with the coaching!

There is absolutely no hope that Civil War will deliver what I would like (see above *g*) so I'm going to go in hopeful but with low expectations and enjoy what we get.

I have been following Paul Bettany for aaaaaages (I own Legion! On Blu-Ray!) and I thought he was indeed AH-MAZE-INNGGGGG as The Vision. He's got stunning eyes, and I loved his low key snark as well. And the Mjolnir scene paid off very nicely indeed with him.

I would pay good money to watch Scarlett and Ruffalo clip Renner around the ear. Repeatedly. And I used to really like him as a performer. Now I see his face and a voice in my head says "You, sir, are an asshole!"

Thanks! My goal this year is to get them (sorta) playing positions and to (occasionally) make real passing plays. A girl can hope!

Loooved Paul Bettany as The Vision - what a great interpretation of his character! Natasha and Bruce were also a favorite.

Re Renner, I try to never pay any attention to what actors say. Though it is really hard to unhear certain things, unfortunately, and it makes me glad I'm not a particular fan of Hawkeye.
