For months, I've been struggling to find time, energy and inspiration to write. Amongst the stories I have on the go is a Take That spy AU, which seems to have been stuck at the 14,000 word mark for longer than I care to remember. But this week things have finally started to shake free. I've got a good chunk of the next section done, and am pretty sure I know how the rest of it is going to go.

To celebrate, and as an experiment, I've decided to do something I've never done before and start posting the story as a WIP. I normally wouldn't consider this, but I've got the first two chapters polished to within an inch of their lives and don't think I'll futz with them any more. I'm also hoping knowing the first part is out there in the world will keep me working steadily on the rest.

Here goes nothing...

Secret Agent Men (6890 words)
Chapters: 1/4
Fandom: Take That (Band)
Relationships: Mark Owen/Robbie Williams, Howard Donald/Jason Orange
Additional Tags: Hurt/Comfort, Alternate Universe - Spies & Secret Agents
Notes: Inspired by Take That's theme song for Kingsman: Secret Service and a series of discussions on Tumblr. I've thrown the boys more into a Bondian version of MI6 than into the Kingsmen. Thanks to m. butterfly and [livejournal.com profile] halotolerant for betaing this beast.
Summary: When Robbie is made a Double O agent, it sets off a series of events that will leave no one he knows unchanged.

Oh, how wonderful. I love Bond, Kingsman and everything spy anyway so I'm totally excited to read this once I've got some time.

Thanks for writing and sharing. And I'm sure it's gonna be fine even though it's your first time posting one of your stories as a WIP.

The vast majority of the fic I've written over the years is spy-related (Pros and UNCLE primarily) so I'm enjoying pulling the boys into that sort of world.

I've got over half written, or I'd have never done the WIP thing, and I'm hoping this will pull me on to keeping going with writing the rest.

Having been burned by a few WIPs over the years, I totally understand.

I'm hoping I can finish it by the end of the summer at the latest. Sooner, if my muse cooperates! (It's been a tetchy bugger of late, so I'm not going to count on that.)

I tend to avoid all WIPs - partly in case they aren't finished, and partly because each pause throws me out of the story and I find it hard to resume. I like to lose myself in fiction and not emerge till I feel like it. Also, I prefer reading on my Kindle and don't upload as a rule till I know I have the whole thing! But I know a lot of people who love WIPs - a bit like a serial story in a magazine, perhaps. In most cases, if something looks interesting, I 'subscribe' so that I know when the end arrives, but with you, I assume you'll keep us updated here!
