So, the film fest has been over for dayyyys, and I still haven't had time to write anything up.
This is in part because with soccer over, I foolishly volunteered to be the trainer for Ros' hockey team. Which then turned into me being the trainer *and* the manager of her hockey team. (They can clearly tell new suckers in this league a mile away.) All of which has meant doing an online first aid course and an online Respect in Sport course (a.k.a. the "Don't Be a Jerk" course), and setting up mailing lists and Team Snap accounts and aiiieeee!
It is also in part because in the little spare time I've had left, my brain has now been fully eaten by Captain America Stucky fandom. (So. Much. Fic.)
In between film fest screenings, I not only ducked out to buy the Cap: Civil War disk, I finally broke down and got a Funko Pop Cap bobble head. And ordered a Winter Soldier bobble head to keep him company. And when I told Ros not to tell her dad what I'd done, she promptly stuck this note to our front door*:

My daughter is a grass.
(*Note the BistoCon note paper. *g*)

Date: 2016-09-23 04:47 am (UTC)it sounds like you're going to be crazybusy as Team Everything - but I hope you also manage to find some fun along the way; and that Ros has a great time on the team

Date: 2016-09-23 01:16 pm (UTC)So far the coaches are nice and so are the girls, but man, it looks like it's going to be far more involving than soccer. And I've had to buy myself a helmet, gloves and a stick because they want more warm-bodied adults on the ice during practices to run drills. Which is sorta hilarious, because while I'm a decent skater I'm not a hockey skater, and I've never held a stick on the ice in my life. (I did, however, grow up three doors from Bobby Orr's parents, so maybe something rubbed off by osmosis. *g*)

Date: 2016-09-23 07:53 am (UTC)The bistocon note paper was the first thing I noticed! Ros is a grass but a sweet one all the same, how cute is she eh?
Why am I not surprised that you volunteered for the hockey team, Ros is one lucky girl to have you *g*
I was introduced to the Captian America fan world by a good friend when I visited her in Germany recently otherwise I would have said, 'what the?' It's very popular by all accounts.

Date: 2016-09-23 01:19 pm (UTC)I figured I was going to be in the rink anyway, I might as well volunteer to do something. But man, this is going to be more work than soccer.
Cap fandom is stupid huge. Thousands of stories that get thousands and thousands of hits! Which is usually more than enough to drive me out of a fandom (I like my quiet backwater fandoms where you can personally know everyone involved!) but apparently Sebastian Stan is a bigger draw than I'd thought. Darn him to heck. *g*

Date: 2016-09-24 03:00 am (UTC)The hockey thing is far more involved that I was counting on. There is a team lunch tomorrow, and I have to arrange getting the girls' names on their jerseys and book hotel rooms for the one tournament we go to. Yikes! Give me footie any time!

Date: 2016-09-24 08:55 am (UTC)Stucky is a lot of fun and there's some amazing fic out there not to mention art, fanzines etc etc. Plus there's the spin off stuff with Seb Stan in it like Political Animals or The Martian. I don't own any funkos yet, but I do have a Hannigram fanart coffee flask from Redbubble (it's very subtle, sfw and not gory *g*)
Wow, Hockey duties! Do you get a sort of Canadianess medal for this? *g*

Date: 2016-09-24 11:46 pm (UTC)I've got a few other funkos (Sherlock & Watson, Loki and Arya Stark), but Steve and Bucky were the first I've bought for myself. The Hannigram coffee flask sounds brilliant.
I've always been proud of being a hockey-free Canadian, but now I've been dragged into hockey culture full bore. So far it's okay, though it's way more involving than I was expecting. Ros is enjoying it, though, so that's the main thing. And fortunately the kids and parents seem nice.
