Snowflake Challenge - Day 13
Jan. 14th, 2019 07:38 amI've been too swamped with RL stuff to do the challenge for a couple of days, so I'm going to skip forward a bit.
Day 13
In your own space, set some goals for the coming year. They can be fannish or not, public or private.
I'm going to set one fannish goal, and one personal.
The fannish goal is to make a good start on the Gweilo Gongfu sequel. I've been both desperate to start this story and dreading it in equal measure. I want to take Steve and (Chinese American) Bucky into the war and through the basic plot of The First Avenger, but land them in the Pacific theatre. There is a lot of opportunity for this to be really cool (like Erskine becoming a defecting Japanese scientist) but it's also going to take a heck of a lot of research (on Chinese Americans during the war and the details of the Pacific theatre). But I'm finally ready to take it on.
The personal goal is to declutter my home, and in particular our third floor to get a cosy place to both write and read. We've just finished a renovation to do built-in shelves and a desk for me, and we're in the stage of putting everything back. I'm vowing that nothing I don't need goes back, and everything that goes back gets a proper space.

Date: 2019-01-15 11:47 am (UTC)I've been wanting to write a sequel since I finished it, but the amount of research I'll need to do is daunting. And I suspect it's going to take at least a year to write, what with everything else going on in my life. But I'm going to bite bullet and push forward!
