Dear Yuletide Author

It's another Yuletide, and I could not be more excited that you're going to write a story for me. If you already have an idea, I'm sure I'll love it. But if you'd like some guidance about the things I like, here it is.
Things That Make Me Happy
Angst and hurt/comfort
AUs
Banter
Competent characters behaving competently
Crossovers
Plotty stories
Character studies
Found families
Happy endings
Unhappy endings, if they're of the magnificently tragic variety.
I prefer slash, but like gen. I think the best way to solve a love triangle is polyamory. No matter the relationship, emotional intimacy matters more to me than the physical sort, though I would never turn down some rousing physical intimacy. While I most want to see the characters listed, I am fond of seeing other characters in the fandoms and how they all interact. And I'm not averse to OC's, if they're well drawn and essential to the plot.
Do Not Wants
Non-con or rape
A/B/O
BDSM and most kink
Death of a requested character
Mpreg
Additionally, I dislike seeing competent characters acting stupidly. I also don't want to see other characters or ships beyond what I've requested criticized or belittled.
And here, again, are the details about my requested fandoms:
The Crimson Kimono (Joe Kojaku, Charlie Bancroft, Christine Downs)
From the start of The Crimson Kimono, Joe and Charlie are such an old married couple. They live together; they work together; they obviously care for each other a great deal. Then Christine comes onto the scene and the movie they're in can see no other way but to drive a wedge between them. But what if that didn't happen? What I'm saying is that Joe/Charlie/Christine is totally my OT3. I'd love to see the three of them negotiating their relationship. How does Christine fit with both of them? Does Joe stay on the force? Does Charlie? Or, if you don't want to write the OT3, maybe look at Joe and Charlie during the war. How did they keep each other safe? Or how were things when they started on the police force. If there's some good hurt/comfort content, I definitely won't complain.
You can find the film for rent from the usual sources and on YouTube.
A League of Their Own, (Jess McCready, Lupe Garcia, Beverly, Maybelle Fox)
I love pretty much every character in this show, but Jess and Lupe are my favourites. I'd love to see more of their friendship. Specifically, I'd love to see them through the eyes of either Sergeant Beverly or Maybelle. The way Beverly was gradually revealed to be an ally for everyone on the team was fantastic, and I'd love to hear more about and from her. Her giving Jess back her fines for wearing pants at the end of the season is possibly my favourite moment of the show. And Maybelle is just such force for joy that I'd love to see more of her. So maybe we get a flashback to Beverly's younger years and how it relates to the Peaches. Or how about Jess and Lupe bringing Maybelle to the bar, and Maybelle just being so pleased with how much fun everyone is having.
Batman: Wayne Family Adventures (Jason Todd, Damian Wayne, Alfred Pennyworth)
I'm a lifelong Bat fan, and these days the Wayne Family Adventure is my favourite Bat title. I just enjoy settling in to read a story that's not going to be about anything more earth-shattering than a fight over the last of Alfred's cookies, or Damian learning how to make friends. I love all of the Bat family, but Jason, Damian and Alfred are definitely my favourites. I love Jason's sarcastic big brother vibe, and Damian's frightening competence that hides a big heart. And I love the thought of Alfred looking after all of them; even Bruce. So, give me a small moment between them. Jason helping Damian out with a problem at school. Or Damian helping Jason out. Alfred looking after their hurts or making them their favourite food or just generally being the nurturing influence they all need.
Scaramouche (Andre Moreau, Philippe de Valmorin)
This is one of my very favourite movies from the time I was a kid. It's probably the reason I love both fencing and Stewart Granger. Andre Moreau is a great character, but the friendship between him and Philippe de Valmorin is the beating heart of the movie for me. Philippe's death is what drive's Andre for the whole movie, to learn to become a fencing master to avenge his friend. But I'd like to see a little bit of them in happier times. How they grew up together. Or how such two different young men – one a serious revolutionary; one more concerned with having fun- could continue to be such loyal friends.
Some kind soul has uploaded the film to FB here.
In the end, I hope you write something that gives you joy. That's sure to bring me joy as well.
