Illya Kuryakin offered his passport to the Customs Officer and concentrated on taking one even breath after another. As was too often the case, the passport's name was not his own, nor was the picture it contained quite him.

In his world, identity was fluid. He was Russian one day and English the next. His eyes were brown on Tuesday and blue at week's end. There were no constants, no guarantees.

Or almost none. A light touch at his elbow made him turn to see the one enduring touchstone in his life: Napoleon Solo, a smile in his hazel eyes.

Just the place where identity is most in flux for him: at passport control! I like the placement of this fic, and that Napoleon shows up at the end....nice.

This was one of the first ones to come to me, because identity must be an issue for spies. And I had to have Napoleon at the end. (More of these drabbles than not came out angsty, but UNCLE is a more hopeful fandom for me.)

lovely.

I have never yer had the urge to embrace a second new fandom, but lately you have been tempting me to admit I still have a second old one...

Glad you liked. And that old fandom is always waiting for you, whenever you want to come back.

Well, I can't remember when the show was on, so I don't know much about the fandom. But I get the secret agent thing and I wonder if they sometimes have a brain fart at passport control i.e. who am I supposed to be?

That's what I was trying for.

(The show was on '64 to '68, within my lifetime, but only just. But I adore '60s spy stuff in general.)
