Well, I've managed to finish the Sharpe vid, so I will have something to send to Escapade. Even if I can't go myself.
In spite of the crappy composition, lousy lighting and decided lack of usable slash-signifying footage in the Sharpe movies, I'm happy with the end result. Not ecstatic, but content. It's not the best thing I've ever done; there's no over-arching narrative, there's no deep theme, there're fewer effects than I originally intended to use. There's just a celebration of the Sharpe/Harper dynamic and a love poem to the prettiness that is Sean Bean, all done to a song I love. (And many thanks to
morgandawn for helpful beta comments. You always help me focus what my intentions are for a vid.)
The next two vids I've got planned have better shot source material (MI-5/Spooks and Angel), use more complex, fast tempo songs and even have, gasp, themes. I'll be curious to see if I'm any happier with the vids that result.

Date: 2005-01-10 09:09 pm (UTC)Will the pretty Sean Bean vid be online after Escapade? I won't make it to the con, either.
What is this Sharpe? Do I need some?

Date: 2005-01-11 06:54 am (UTC)Yep, I'm going to be putting the Bean vid up after Escapade. (I'll email you details.)
As for Sharpe, it's got a frequently shirtless Sean Bean as a nice bit of rough who's made an officer during the Napoleonic War. Lovely stuff. And the books are better. (Give Sharpe's Rifles a try and go on from there.)
