Had a lovely time tonight.

It all start with seeing Duran Duran at the ACC with my guy and [livejournal.com profile] sooguy. (It was sooguy's Christmas present from the two of us.) The concert was awesome, the most enjoyable I've seen in a long time. They opened with Sunrise, my favourite track from the new album, and closed with a kick-ass version of Rio, and everything in between was pure bliss. Particularly good were The Chauffeur and Say a Prayer, two tracks I've always loved. And though he's not really a Duran fan, my guy got bouncy during Girls on Film.

The crowd was insane, myself included. It was kinda fun to see a bunch of thirty and forty somethings turn into screaming sixteen year old girls for an evening. (I'll have to see how much of a voice I have left for teaching tomorrow. *g*)

After getting home from the concert, we watched the tape of the new Dr. Who. I quite enjoyed it. Eccleston's version of the Doctor has the potential to get really interesting, I think, even if he's only going to have the thirteen episodes to do it. And Billie Piper's Rose was less of a "pop tart" (the big guy's phrase, not mine) than her promo pics led us to suspect. Can't wait for next week's episode.

Am I that out of the loop - there's a new Dr. Who in town? What station is playing on? I have heard ZERO about this.

Glad you enjoyed the concert. I had a blast too.

The CBC's showing the new Doctor. Tuesdays at 8, for thirteen episodes. How have you not heard about this?! I've been waiting for it for a year.

Seriously, until I read it in your journal just now - not a word. Funny because I have been watchign CBC more and more lately. I haven't even seen an ad for it.

I may have to borrow that first episode from you.

I thought after FOX or whoever tried the American version a couple years ago they had given up on trying ressurect the Doctor.

The new guard at the Beeb are thirty and forty somethings who grew up on Who, so they're finally eager to get the show running again. (Even when they did the American version, the Beeb was still under control of the old fogies who found it embarrassing.)

Don's lending the tape to his buddy Derek, and I've got to dub a copy for an American pal (no U.S. network has picked it up), but it's yours after that.

Wow, I wish I could have been there. I seem to recall trying desperately to get tickets and failing about 20 years ago (was it that long...yikes!).

Sounds like you had a great time. Enjoy the post-concert emotional high for a few days.

24 years ago, I believe, in minus 30 degree weather. I just remember trying to warm up in the second floor of Sam the Record Man after they sold out.
