No new words on the Pros story yesterday, owing to my attendance at the not-so-relaxing meditation class. (All those irritating people who talk in movie theatres? Apparently they decided to take the same meditation class that I did.)

No new words today, either, since it was Mandarin class tonight.

But I did make a new Pros icon. Does that count? No, I thought not.

Sigh.

Oh, are you taking Mandarin? I've been learning a couple of words, and I was thinking it would be a fun language to study when I retire from the U! The kanji is daunting, but hey, if you're studying, we could exchange greetings at Media West! LOL!

Yep, Don and I are both taking Mandarin. It's fun, but I greatly prefer Cantonese. (More tones, but fewer wacky sounds.)

Kanji is actually the Japanese name for the Chinese writing system. The Chinese just call them characters or calligraphy. I actually don't find it too bad, though I know a fair number of characters already from studying Cantonese.

As for exchanging greetings at MW, not until 2007. :( That's when I'll be back, if all goes well.
