It's shaping up to be not such a great week.

  • My sweetie just hit day 6 of having a fever of between 102 and 103.
  • We woke up to a leak in our living room, just below where our second floor shower is.
  • I have completely over-committed myself fannishly (7 challenge stories, 2 zines stories, both of which are due Friday, and we won't even talk about the vids I'd like to be/am working on). Right now, I'm trying to decide on a course of action: panic and do as much as I can in a flurry or roll over and give up? I suspect my actual response is going to be somewhere between the two, but things aren't looking good for the Boromir gen zine story due this week. (Gen? What's that?)

    On the other hand:

  • I'd already arranged to work on some video stuff at home today, so I was able to drive my sweetie to his doctor first thing.
  • I'd never gotten around to cancelling the home repair warranty that came with our new mortgage, so we may get off with a $50 deductible for the plumbing repair, though don't even talk to me about repairing the drywall afterward.
  • On the writing front...well, crap, there is no good news there. Sigh.

Yikes! 24hrs with a fever like that is not good, never mind several days. I don't need to tell you that a fever is usually a sign of a underlying infection. Glad you took him to the doctors. Hope he's feeling better soon.

That sucks about the leak. What kind of shower do you have in that bathroom? I mean is it tile or just a liner. Sometimes the liner seperates from the drain and can leak. Good thing you still have the home warranty.

Drywalling isn't too bad if you have the right tools. As long as the leak didn't ruin you paint job.

Take it easy. Good luck with the other projects.

We figure it's an infection, but he's got no other obvious symptoms.

The shower is in the tub, with tile and everything. Everyone else in the development has had shoddy plumbing connections resulting in leaks, so it looks like it's just our time. Stupid builder.

The leak is on the ceiling, nowhere near our walls. Which is good, since it's on the side of the red wall and there's no way we want to paint that again. We'll have to do something with the ceiling, though.

[livejournal.com profile] summer_of_78 I'm not so worried about. A May deadline I can handle. Most of the other deadlines are in the next week.

I want to do this day over ...

    You and me both.

Gee, has he seen a doctor? That's a long time to have a fever.

Hello...I can read, really I can.
    ::facepalm::
Of course you took him to the doctor.

I would have taken him earlier, but finding any open clinic on the weekend is a bitch and the nice nurse at Telehealth (this province-wide number where you can call with medical questions) assured us that it wasn't an emergency room thing unless he hit 104. Which he was edging close to on Friday night.

Hey, speaking of writing overcommitment did you ever look at that stagesoflove story? I wasn't sure if Gmail wasn't giving me your response or if you hated it and weren't sure how to tell me. *g* (Yes, I'm insecure. Like there was any doubt?)

Hmmm. I sent it back the same night. Wonder what happened?
Okay, I'll send it again. Let me know if you don't receive it.

Do you want Thursday night back? We can always get together some other time.

Not so far. I reckon Don should be fine by then, and I suspect I'll be in need of some fun time.

Unless you're not feeling well and want to bail, of course.

I'm going to head home shortly and sleep (or watch SGA eps) until I feel better. I'm sure I'll be fine by Thursday, as will Don.
So... sushi Thursday is still on.

Poor baby. Wish I could come sit and take care of D while you get some work done. It's time to start begging off of a few of those responsibilities.

D's pretty low maintenance. I just have to supply cold compresses and cups of tea at regular intervals and he's okay.

But if you see I've signed up for another writing challenge, kill me, would ya?

Oh no, what an awful start to the week... I'm thinking the bad week rule should kick in soon though, cos it sounds like your week started early - if it starts badly, then it's got to end well (cos the opposite happens as well, so it has to balance, right?). Hope your sweetie's feeling better soon, and that the shower turns out to be a teeny simple little thing...

I'm hoping the bad week rule is kicking in now. The plumbers have been and gone and didn't have to rip out a wall, and the sweetie is back from the doctor's with antibiotics and antivirals. (The antivirals are because his doc thinks there's an outside chance he has shingles on top of an infection. Ick.) In general, things are looking better than they did a few hours ago.

Still don't know if I'll get the history challenge done for tomorrow. I will eventually, though.

Oh, I'm glad it's looking up a bit already! Yeay (in a tentative don't-scare-the-good-vibes kinda way).

And don't even worry about the history challenge - no deadlines to them, they're just supposed to be fun... Plus - wanna know a secret? I'm not sure I will either this time.. shhhh.... *g*

    # My sweetie just hit day 6 of having a fever of between 102 and 103.

Yikes! That's not good. I hope the doctor can figure out what's going on.

Are you crazy?! :-) I thought I was bad with four stories due and that's not even until late May. You seem to be holding up a lot better than I would. At this point, I think I'd be doing some serious 'running around like a chicken without a head'.

Right now, I'm trying to decide on a course of action: panic and do as much as I can in a flurry or roll over and give up? I suspect my actual response is going to be somewhere between the two, but things aren't looking good for the Boromir gen zine story due this week. (Gen? What's that?)

    I'm not sure. ;-)

The sweetie's fever is still up and down (102 at 5 this morning, yikes!) but I'm hoping the antibiotics start knocking it out of him pronto.

As for whether I'm crazy, why yes I am. At least the creative portion of my brain decided to turn itself back on last night and cough up 1200 words of, wait for it, a gen Boromir story. Jeez.
