My sweetie has mono. Which is pretty much what we've suspected since last week.

So, now he just has to take it easy and wait it out. Don't you love illnesses with no treatment?

I will also be crossing my fingers that I didn't manage to pick it up before he showed any symptoms.

Sigh.

Argh! Your poor sweetie! BTDT, and it's not a lot of fun. Haul in the DVDs, the books, CDs, i-whatevers, and board games. Set up camp. Plan in plenty of down time.

And I hope you don't get it! (I received mine as a thoughtful parting gift from an ex-boyfriend. Way to ruin my sophomore year of college.)

I managed to get it somehow (probably on a drunken pub crawl of Chicago) when I was 28. And yeah, very much not fun and I was flat on my back for 2 months.

He's still doing a lot of sleeping at the moment, but we've got plenty of DVDs to keep him occupied once the delirium goes away.

Lovely. Hope he starts to mend sooner rather than later. And yeah, hoping you haven't gotten it either.

I really hope I don't manage to get sick for the Mode. 'Cause that would suck.

His fever is slightly better (only 100!) so we're hopeful he's through the worst of it.

So we're not going to your place on Saturday, then?

Tell Mr. Zed. I'm so sorry. OTOH, time off work with, ah, some level of compensation?

No visiting the Zed household unless you want exposure to mono. Which you very much don't.

I'll give him your best. And the silly man is actually trying to work from home. (I keep telling him short term disability is the way to go, but he won't listen.)

Oh no! My boyfriend in college had it; I didn't catch it, I suppose because you have to be pretty run down to get it. Poor fellow!

We both pretty much burn the candle at both ends. (So many films, plays concerts to see!) I'm just crossing my fingers that I haven't been run down enough to pick it up.

A big yuccko!

He's definitely getting his rest (can't do much else at the moment) and at least he's got lots of lovely Shaw Brothers disks for when he starts feeling better.

Must start taking echinecea right now.

All my best to the big guy. I take he's missed boat loads of work over this?

When did he start showing symptoms? Was it long after Owen's birthday? I remember seeing you guys for a movie around what the 22nd and he was sick right?

Wow, I guess he'll finally get a chance to catch up on some DVDs.

Tell him to work on his website!

He's been sick for exactly two weeks today. Unless he's licked you, or, what's more likely, you drank from a glass he used, you and the family should be okay.

Me, however, is another story. We're keeping our fingers crossed.

He's not really up to watching DVDs or working on the website, though. Today was the first day he even felt well enough to read a comic.

Yup. That's what it sounded like. I had it in March 2001, and they thought I had everything from hepatitis to pneumonia. But if he takes it easy, he'll be fine. Just don't let him go to work before he's all better.

I'll sit on him if I have to. Though I don't think I will. After getting the news, he pretty much just slept all day yesterday.

Oh, no. How awful.

I had that when I was a teenager. I do hope that it isn't too bad for him. And I most definitely hope that you don't get it too.

Thinking of you and sweetie.

It looks like he might be on the upswing already. His temperature is hovering around 100 instead of 102. He still definitely needs to take it very easy for a while, though.

::hugs back::

We're thankful to know what it is at least. And I'm definitely keeping those fingers crossed. And hourly indulging in paranoid fantasies that my throat is getting sore. :-/

Bummer.

But watching movies all day sounds like fun.

Take care of yourself.

Definite bummer.

And he's nowhere near being able to watch movies, or even regular old TV, all day. Vast quantities of sleep are about all he can manage.
