Adventures in Fannish Parenting

Rosalind loves playing with the rolls from toilet paper. She especially loves putting them on her wrists. Like vambraces. So I started telling her that they were vambraces, determined that she will be the only kid in her preschool class who knows the names of parts of armour.

Tonight, I'm folding laundry and Ros is with the Sweetie getting ready for bed and I hear her shout "Daddy, look at my vambraces!"



I'm so proud.

Next step: teach her about tassets and pauldrons. Not to mention Boromir.

To clarify, I haven't done this before, so I have no idea if there will be a sudden rush of last minute bids, if so, oh well, at least I made more money for charity *eg*

Exciting! Why don't you hold off telling me till tonight so I can contemplate all the delicious possibilities a while longer. (I know what I hope you'll ask for. And it's not necessarily the obvious fandom. But no pressure. *g*)

I also have no idea if there will be a last minute rush. I'm already higher than I thought I might go.

*cries* You know, with the amount of fandoms you've offered, the chances of me choosing the one *you're hoping for* is vanishingly small, right? Which means, you'll just be that tiny bit disappointed when I tell you. *is sad*

I won't really be disappointed. 'Cause I'd love to vid them all. But you're one of the few people on my flist who also has the fandom I'm hoping for in their interests, so there's a chance, right?

And really, mostly I've just been thinking this is going to be cool no matter how it turns out. *g*

Now I have to resist the urge to scour your flist, you realise. Probably just as well I really have to go to bed now - I have to get up at 5am to make sure I'm there for the last couple of hours of the auction (in case it crashes early). I've already been outbidded on rageprufrock, but that was always going to happen, I want to make sure I get my Leverage fics, and the other author I'm buying as a present for a friend of mine who doesn't have internet. and, you know, to see if I can still afford YOU.

Well, I think it will be cool, because I'm not horribly demanding, and will certainly back off if you tell me to. and not be offended. *g*
