Rosalind loves playing with the rolls from toilet paper. She especially loves putting them on her wrists. Like vambraces. So I started telling her that they were vambraces, determined that she will be the only kid in her preschool class who knows the names of parts of armour.

Tonight, I'm folding laundry and Ros is with the Sweetie getting ready for bed and I hear her shout "Daddy, look at my vambraces!"

I'm so proud.

Next step: teach her about tassets and pauldrons. Not to mention Boromir.

Heh, she's so cute. The pink pyjamas do spoil the effect a bit though *G* Maybe you should get her something in camouflage look instead *snicker*

Awesome.

I guess she will be asking for some real ones once she outgrows the toilet paper rolls!

Ah, she's so beautiful! So how do you and the Sweetie feel about being the parents of a future superhero? (she just has that superhero thing going!). They both look so lovely, all into the role and happyproudparent - you have such a gorgeous family!

I don't know about Rosalind, but I have learned something new today - vambrace. Thanks.

She is such a little cutie and is learning so much from her proud parents.

I don't know whether Rosalind is very tiny or whether you have different size cardboard inside your toilet rolls. Ours here are about 1 & half inches across and about 4 inches long.

Your photos give me a lot of pleasure. :)

OMG She's ADORABLE.

*puzzled* Either your child is tiny or toilet rolls are much larger on that there side of the world.

Ah, how sweet. Darn, girl, the kidlet is sprouting! Good work on the fannish upbringing. And you know that naming the parts of a suit of armor could very well be useful one day. She might win a lot of money in a trivia contest. Or become a re-enactor.

That is way beyond cute! Our fannish friends have also raised their children in the way they should go -- most are college or post-college now and attending cons with us and chairing panels and even creating cons. :beams: Now for the third generation... Grand-fans!

Not only are the pyjamas pink (well, purple really), but they have kitty cats on them. Not exactly warrior garb. *g*

The girly stuff she's going to have to figure out on her own, but for armour, martial arts and fencing strategy, I've totally got her covered.

I'm totally teaching her all the stuff I wish I'd known. And her vocabulary is coming along stunningly. (She was cracking herself up at the dinner table the other day, and only stopped laughing long enough to say "that's hilarious." The Sweetie and I were suitably impressed. After we stopped laughing.)

I am very lucky to have two sweeties. And yeah, Ros is, for the most part, a happy, curious child. We consider ourselves very lucky.

She's already asking for the real ones. I made the mistake of showing her mine, and now she's constantly asking to see them.

Funny you should say that. When we were playing in the living room yesterday afternoon, she started throwing her fist in the air and saying "Super powers!" Not something we say a whole lot, so we reckon she got it from daycare. (I then confused her by putting my fist up and saying "Fight the power." It is my fondest wish that she says that at daycare some day.)
