[livejournal.com profile] just_ann_now will appreciate this.

My most exciting WorldCon thing today was hearing Ellen Kushner read a brand new Riverside story with Alec and Richard. (More specifically, the story of how Alec became the Duke Tremontaine.) It was funny and lovely and I can't wait for it to be published. Which will be next year, but it will be worth the wait.

Afterward, I fangirled Ms. Kushner--no one else was talking to her! I couldn't help myself--and hopefully managed to maintain a sane and respectful aspect. But I couldn't get that close and not tell her how much her novels have meant to me.

*faints with glee* The Prince of Riverside story she's been talking about! I'm dying to read that one - it's going to be in an anthology, right?

If you run into her again, be sure to send my regards. [livejournal.com profile] heartofoshun will be lunching with her and Delia Sherman soon; I won the lunch in a charity auction and am sending Oshun as my "designated diner". *g*

I cannot believe it. I am so jealous. I am dying to read that story. I hoped it would be "funny and lovely"--so glad to hear you found it to be.

It's going to be in an Ellen Datlow anthology next year. (Didn't catch the name. Was too busy enjoying the moment.)

Lucky [livejournal.com profile] heartofoshun. I signed up for the KaffeKlatsch with her and Delia Sherman, but I'm the second alternate and I'm steeling myself to be disappointed, even as I'm preparing intelligent questions to ask if someone doesn't make it.

You'll totally enjoy it. Though it was awesome to hear her read it herself. She's a wonderful performer.

And lucky you, doing the lunch with her and Delia Sherman. They've both been delightful panelists at the con.

Oh, that's just brilliant to hear! There can never be too much Alec and Richard. Shall be waiting impatiently for next year now. Did she say what the title will be?

The story is brilliant too!

She did say what the title of the anthology was, and I completely spaced on it. If I make it into the kaffeklatsch with her, I shall ask again.

That is exciting news! I love Alec and Richard. :-) If you do manage to get the title, please let us know!

I'm green with envy. What an experience. Lucky girl.

No luck getting the title at the con. I'm planning on doing a little Googling to see if I can turn it up.

As for meeting Ms. Kushner, it was a nice experience. She's funny and gracious and wasn't obviously trying to run for the exit when I told her how much I enjoyed her writing.

Eeeeeeeeeeeeeeee!

Absolutely.

Kushner was the guest I was most excited about seeing. She did not disappoint.

Here we go! The anthology will be called Naked City: New Tales of Urban Fantasy , edited by Ellen Datlow. Here's EK's original post (http://ellen-kushner.livejournal.com/235054.html) about it.
