Ya Win Some, Ya Lose Some

My shiny, newish Mac Pro is fixed and sitting in our foyer.

Alas, it's going to continue sitting in the foyer until the Sweetie gets home tonight. It weighs a ton, and there's no way I'm going to try and drag it up to our third floor office. I just barely managed to get it down from there by myself.

I don't think I'll even have much time to set it up and make sure it really is happily fixed until Monday night, since I'm off to Stratford for the day tomorrow for more theatre (The Importance of Being Earnest and Cyrano De Bergerac with FJBryan), and then Saturday we're off to my mum's for Thanksgiving weekend.

*nods* When the old iMac started to fail I hauled it in to the Apple store, which is in the middle of a very large mall and of course not anywhere near any of the outside entrances to the mall.

It took Daughter and I both to lug the beast. I realize the stands are that heavy to keep the computer from falling over, but... DAMN.

They are beasts, aren't they. I just wish they'd design handles on them that don't cut into your hands like razors. (Apple's designers are usually so good about things like that. :-/ )

I guess they expect you to keep the box around forever and ever amen and tuck it back in there if you have to cart it about. We probably did do, but I don't know where it is and I was the one stuck taking it in.

I don't think the box would help with the behemoth. It would just be a bigger, bulkier hunk of incredibly heavy white dwarf star matter.

(And I chopped it into recycling kindling ages ago, even if I did think it would help. Mostly on account of I just found the boxes for my last two, long since dead machines in the basement and I'm not putting up with the stupid boxes for that length of time again.)
