After spending over two hours in line with Ros for her H1N1 shot, 45 minutes of it in the cold, and then working on actual work stuff for an hour and a half tonight, I nearly gave up on doing even ten minutes of writing. But I figured what the heck, and gave it a shot.

Word count: 186

I was hoping to make it an even two hundred, but my exhausted brain gave up the ghost on me.

We're leaving tomorrow night to visit my mom up north, but I'm hoping to keep the pseudo-momentum going and keep working on the story. (I'm nearly up to the point past which I'm not sure what happens. I need a McGuffin!)

I like playing with plot better than anything -- I didn't say *using* it did I? -- if you want a few useless ideas... Just saying. :D

I think this McGuffin is going to be more in the line of "we have an evil plan to take over the world, bwahaha!" I just have to come up with an UNCLE-appropriate, pseudo-credible evil plan.

Ya know, I'm not the hugest Hitchcock fan in the world. Except for Marnie. Apparently I like the sexual perversity in my Hitchcock completely out in the open.

Can I take you up on the plot ideas offer? (You and grits did a bang up job on kickstarting the Hong Kong story. Which is going to have to wait till the New Year to go further, but is ticking along in my brain.) Can I drop you an email with what I've got so far?

I love Hitchcock... I connect on all sorts of levels to his sense of humour and some of the things he obviously finds fascinating about people. *watches Zed back away slowly*

Hitchcock is arguably the origin of the "McGuffin" concept so I had to mention him.

Hey, I can totally appreciate Hitchcock. (One of my best friends in grad school was enough of a fan that he had a bust of Hitch in his office.) I just don't connect with his work on that level.

I knew why you brought up Hitchcock. Just so you know that I know. *g*

I'm about to finally send that promised plotting email. (Not only did I not have internet over the weekend, but I also didn't do any writing. Blame a packed family visit and a Sweetie who came down with another, though blessedly brief and minor, fever.)

I'm hoping to get on a roll and hit 1,000 words a day, but I'll be happy with what I can do. Especially since I'm already at nearly 3,000 words total for a story that only needs to be 1,000. (I'd say I've got at least another 3,000 to go before I can finish the plot. Drat long, plotty stories, anyway.)

Thanks for the good wishes on the trip. It's supposed to be a lovely weekend, so here's hoping.
