Well, the jetlag is keeping me from doing a proper write-up of my trip to England, but I thought I'd at least put up a few pics from the trip. And trot out the newly created Big Ben icon made especially for this and future posts about English travels.

Me having a G&T at the Scarsdale pub. The drink accompanied a lovely roast lamb lunch. (I'd landed mere hours before this was taken, and am frankly amazed I managed to stay upright for the entire day. But the effort was worth it, since I was firmly on London time by the next day.)

A completely brilliant day in Trafalgar Square: sunny and warm and lovely. The pic was taken from the front entrance of the National Gallery, where I'd been visiting my favourite painting, Paolo Ucello's Battle of San Romano.

I saw Solomon Kane at the Toronto Film Fest this past year, and it's a genius little swashbuckler that deserves to be far more widely seen than it's likely going to. I was heartened to see that it's at least getting a decent release in England.

Me standing on the same paving stones as Bodie did in First Night. (Not my first pilgrimmage to this spot. The pic from my 2006 trip, with comparison screen cap of the episode, is here

And here's my partner in crime, FJBryan, in the same spot.

And finally, here's my most prized booty from the trip: a Stig floatie pen. How awesome is that?!

Wow! Fantastic photos! Wish I could go to London sometime!

[Speaking of which ---should I buy my tickets to Detroit?]

London is quite probably my favourite city ever--though Hong Kong gives it a good run for its money. You should totally make the effort, especially since you enjoy theatre.

I'm going to touch base with the HR dude on Monday. I'll let you know what the verdict is as soon as I hear back.

Sally told me I totally lucked out on the weather. It was drizzling the day I landed, and had been pouring for two weeks before that. But I got nothing but mostly clear skies and no rain.

You should totally go to the UK sometime. It's pretty much my favourite place in the world.

What fun. I got my husband to do a pub crawl without letting him know we were on a Bodie and Doyle tour. . . .

I dragged the Sweetie through Camden Lock a few years back looking for DIAG locations. He got suspicious when he realized I wasn't really paying attention to the stores, and finally stopped and said, "This is a Professionals thing, isn't it?" He knows me well.

A Stig floating pen? You really fell hard and fast didn't you? *g*

I'm so glad that you had a good time and you certainly look very happy in the Scarsdale. ♥

C'mon, how can you not love the Stig floatie pen? (I shan't mention that I also picked up Richard Hammond's third memoir at the airport. Or that I'm already half way through it.)

I had a fab time. Now I'm nice and relaxed and ready to take on the working world once again.

Thanks for sharing!Seems like you had a good trip. I'm going to London in April, and this cheered me up during the wait :)

I actually remember the Bodie/pavement one from your last trip (how crazy about fannish pilgrimage does that make me, I wonder? LOL)

And last - where did you buy that Stig pen????? ;)

It was a fantastic trip. Hope you have a good one in April.

I shan't make any comments about your fannish craziness. *g*

As for the Stig pen, we had to search, but found it in a little store on the south side of the Strand that sells both stamps and BBC stuff. (If you go, look for the inflatable Dalek outside the store.)

Your London pics look fantastic, especially Trafalgar Square. Scarsdale Tavern looks like a must-see, too.
Heh for Stig pen; I bought one of those as a Secret Santa gift for a workmate last Christmas. It entertained him for hours; turn up, turn back, turn up, turn back....

I was such a brilliant day on Trafalgar Square that I had to take a picture. (I never get tired of that place.)

I can empathize with your workmate. Turning the Stig over and over is too much fun.

So glad you had a nice time but even more glad you are home safely. I hope your schedule gets back on your local time, quickly and easily.

When I lived in Europe, the jet lag coming back to the US was so much worse than the reverse. I don't know why, but it was true every visit home for me.

I'm with you on the jetlag. It only took me a day to adjust going over, but I'm still getting a little loopy around 9 each night. I find it usually takes me close to a week to complete get back into North American time. Weird.

I would have sent you with hugs and kisses for FJB! You both look wonderful in those pictures. What an exciting week you've had all around!

I'll pass along your hugs and kisses. We had a fantastic time. Fortunately, she's as theatre-obsessive as I am. (FJB: "Let's do two plays in one day." Me: "Bring it on!")

So glad you had such a great time - you picked the right week for the weather too. Although it's beautifully sunny here today as well. *basks*

I stood on those paving slabs last year and got ridiculously excited. *g*

Ooooh - looky that pen! I might have to track on of those down...

The weather was awesome! I could not have picked a better week.

Standing on those paving slabs is rather a lot of fun.

And as for the pen, it took some searching (my mate had seen them in a Ryman store a few weeks ago, but every outlet we went to was sold out) but we found one in a shop selling both stamps and BBC gear on the south side of the Strand. Look for the inflatable Dalek if you try to find it.

Oooh! I want a Stig floatie pen! And a London trip with you and FJBryan! You look like you're having a wonderful time. Yay for, well, everything!

Some day we'll have to sync up all our trips to England. Hey, it's possible! It's the second time I've met up with FJB over there.
