Have just seen The Eagle. Yes, it is full of the awesome slash.

Also, I have a Take That icon. (Mark, being adorable! Awwww.) Uh oh.

And another also, I sort of forced the Sweetie to watch Take That's performance of Kidz at the Brits last night.

Last Night
Sweetie: What the heck was that?

Tonight
Sweetie: I've had that Take That song going through my head all day.

Heh.

It's also not a bad movie, as these things go. (The fight scenes were badly directed, but that's almost a given these days. But Mr. Tatum was not quite the block of wood I'd anticipated. And he suffers nicely.)

My sympathies to the sweetie on the earworming... although my track record is hardly clean on the earworming front. *g*

I'll pass on your sympathies. Though he's hardly innocent on the earworming front. He usually infects me with demented versions of themes from kids' shows. (The Cat in the Hat Knows a Lot About That is a current favourite. Arggghhh.) We've decided his supervillain name is Herr Doktor Earwurm.

Have you hit him with the Simon Cowell Owl thing yet?

Mark looks a lot like the Hamster in that icon.

I know not this Simon Cowell Owl thing. You'll have to enlighten me.

I have to admit, I did note the resemblance to a certain Hamster icon when I picked that one. *g*

Bloody hell, youtube is still down. Bah!

Erm...

Try this link (http://www.kontraband.com/videos/12037/Owls/) and don't say I didn't warn you.

Well, that's...weird. If strangely catchy. (I've gone an innoculated myself with more TT so it doesn't get stuck in me 'ead.)

I thought you might be able to strike back at Herr Doktor Earwurm with it.

BK has the owl emerging from the Bisto can as one of her icons. Highly appropriate.

I shall launch a stealth attack on the good Doktor forthwith.

I did notice that icon of BK's and wondered what the heck it was. All is explained.

I don't know what you're going on about. ::whistles::

Actually, I have no interest in kissing the man myself. I want to see him kiss other men. Who may or may not be called Robbie. *g*

I spent December winning the love of my flatmates by wandering around the house singing 'it's an SOSOSOSOSOSOSOSOSOSOSOSOSOSOSOSOSOSOSohyesohyes'...

I love their new album because it's more the kind of music I usually buy. I think Robbie's brought a lot more emphasis on lyrics to the mix which is a good thing.

Funnily enough, that's the song I've had running through my head all day. Right now, as a matter of fact. When Kidz didn't make an end run to kick it out temporarily, of course. But Mark and Robbie doing a duet on a kickass number just makes me very very happy.

I have to say, I don't think I'll ever run out and buy their early albums. They're not quite my usual run of music, and they were far too young back then for me ever to be interested in them. (My taste has ever run to older blokes.) But the new album is definitely my cup of tea. And what I've heard of the previous two--mostly Patience and Shine from Beautiful World--are also more my taste.

I can't believe I've fallen into another RPS fandom, and yet I'm not at all sad/guilty about it. *g*

I missed them completely first time round but Robbie's early solo stuff was some of the first pop music I owned and I have a much greater nostalgic connection to it (I thought 'Let Me Entertain You' was just deliciously wicked when I was eleven *g*). I'm very fond of Beautiful World, not least for associations, not as fussed on Circus (although again some of the songs have great memories), but I know that I'd love Progress on any level and it's the first one I've really listened to on repeat.

Of all the RPS fandoms in all the world, the one where the protagonists make their own Brokeback Mountain AU videos is not the one to feel most guilty about *g*

Robbie was definitely my entry drug to this man love awesomeness. TT never made an impression over here, but seeing Robbie at Glasto, and then that same year over here made me a huge fan. I've bought every album of his since (even Rudebox, which I have to admit I've only listened to once or twice) and adored most of them (except the aforementioned Rudebox). And yeah, TT's music with Robbie seems a bit more muscular and has more interesting lyrics than that without. I'm definitely going to pick up Beautiful World, though. And probably Circus.

Crikey, you were eleven when Let Me Entertain You came out? I was, well, a lot older than that. *g* (Okay, doing a quick calculation, I was about 33, which isn't that old.)

No kidding. God bless 'em.

I remember when I was doing a student attachment in Montreal some years ago, I kept hearing Robbie playing over the supermarket radios! Made me happy *g*

I actually like a lot of Rudebox other than the song 'Rudebox' itself - She's Madonna in particular (although that had a brilliant video to drag me in too! *g*). I think one of the most satisfying things about the reunion has been that obviously they make a really good song-creating team, and yes, the lyrics have definitely taken a more interesting twist with Robbie on board (although I believe the turn towards electro, which I also like a lot, is actually largely from Gary, strangely enough). Beautiful World is definitely worth a buy - Patience, Shine, Beautiful World and Wooden Boat are all lovely *g* I would really recommend getting the concert DVDs if you can, because all of it is at it's best live and they're cracking, very slashy shows! *g*

Yeah, it was all quite formative *g* (and a little later with the rap at the end of 'Kids' (the one with him and Kylie) 'press be asking 'do i care for sodomy?'/i don't know, yeah, probably' I realised he was my hero of rhyme and also self-slashing!)

Amen to that *g*

I'm going to have to give Rudebox another listen, aren't I?

And I've just checked out Amazon.ca and they've got the Beautiful World and Circus concerts on Blu-ray. Hmmmm, I think I've just found a use for that last fifty bucks of Christmas money.

Not to mention his duet on They Can't Take That Away from Me with Rupert Everett. (I've been meaning to vid that song since it came out.)

*bounces* There's loads of extras etc too (the documentary on BW is very good - lots of plunging naked into icebaths, pneumothorax h/c, manhugs and beans on toast- and there's a brilliant commentary from them all too). Ultimate Tour, whilst having only the older music, is a lovely show as well *g*

Can you believe I don't know that one? Clearly I need to - is it on Swing When You're Winning?

That's done it. They're going in my shopping cart now. (Pneumothorax h/c! OMG!)

The Everett duet is indeed on Swing When You're Winning. And it's adorable. (Astoundingly, I don't have that one ripped. Clearly I need to correct that.)

Yay! *bounces* You are in for a treat *g*

I absolutely must go to sleep now (I say this to myself firmly) because it is laaaate here but I'm so pleased we crossed timezones long enough for a wee chat/crazed pimping continuance/gleefest *g* Goodnight ♥

I'm just about to crash myself. (It's late here. It must be nearly morning there!) But yes, I'm so glad we did manage to cross time zones. It was too much fun sharing the TT glee! (New fandoms are So. Much. Fun.)

Ciao!

BTW, you wouldn't have a source for TT icons, would you? I've found one TT graphics comm so far, but it's been dormant for a few years, and a lot of the most promising icon posts are on locked journals.

I got mine about two years ago for the most part and most announcements of icons go through the locked comms - aha, but I see you are now a member of [livejournal.com profile] takethatslash *cackles gleefully* The icons tag there brings up some stuff I think but I don't think half the posts can be tagged because I know there's been more than what I got when I tried there just now. I'll look back through my picture library and see if I can find any clues as to where I got what I use - I need some more myself as I'm sadly lacking in anything with Robbie in it!

I had to join [livejournal.com profile] takethatslash to read your lovely story. And I've found a few likely candidates for icons using the tag there. Not to mention Tumblr accounts for them all. (I may just have to break down and make my own icons.)
