I continue with the project of inflicting Take That on my family. So far it seems to be working.
Last week, the Sweetie, Ros and I were taking her to daycare, and I realized the Sweetie was humming something to himself.
Me: What are you humming?
Sweetie: (sheepishly) Patience
Me: (triumphantly) Yessssss.
Ros: What?!
Me: Daddy was singing Patience.
Ros: Let's all sing Patience!
And so we did, for the two blocks until I peeled off to the subway.
Also, Ros asked me to make her a mix CD for her daycare. Apparently the kids can take in a CD of songs they like and the teacher will play it.
Along with The Beatles' Yellow Submarine (always a favourite) and a number of kids songs, she request three Take That songs: Patience (of course), Never Forget (which she likes dancing along to when I have The Circus DVD on), and Shine.
Except, adorably, she calls Shine "Sparkle."
Clearly, she realizes that Mark Owen is the sparkliest pop singer in the English speaking world:

(Yes, I was just looking for an excuse to post that pic. Your point is?)

Date: 2011-06-15 11:45 pm (UTC)Willowen is perfect, if ever so slightly worry making. (I live in constant fear that Rob will break Mark's heart yet again. Hopefully they've both grown up too much for that to happen again.)

Date: 2011-06-16 03:57 pm (UTC)The Willowen love indeed is complex. And not the least cause it's so obvious how much having Robbie back in his life means to Mark. He just lights up everytime Robbie gives him even a bit of attention. Even if Robbie decides to do his own professionally after the tour, I really hope there will not be a fall out like last time. But I don't think it will happen, surely they're all too mature and old for something like that. Behind the band may not have been as close friends the first time around as they would have wanted people to believe, but pics like that icon of yours just tell a whole another story. Somehow it just feels that Mark and Robbie did share something deeb and genuine, how could you fake a picture like that? ;)

Date: 2011-06-17 12:54 am (UTC)As for Mark and Rob back in the '90s, even if some of their friendship was originally manufactured, there's clearly a lot of it that was entirely genuine. There's a pic in Take That: Take 1, with them in their Sure costume. Rob has Mark pinned on the floor, and is looking adoringly a Mark, while Mark just looks ecstatically happy. It's such a lovely, intimate moment, and I doubt they could fake the emotion in the image. And Mark's description of the image--he says it's the one image from the original days in the band he'd like a copy of--just makes it even sweeter and more intense. I do reckon they'll stay good friends. I just give a little internal wince every time Rob goes all loose cannon, as he so often does.
BTW, your Kidz icon is lovely. I adore that pic.

"BTW, your Kidz icon is lovely. I adore that pic." Me too. It's those adoring looks, it's always the looks (that say more than a thousand words) ;)

Date: 2011-06-18 01:27 am (UTC)I've gone through Take 1 again--oh, the agony *g*--and the big Gary quote in it is the one about Robbie breaking Mark's heart. I will never tire of reading that bit. Or looking at the pics to be honest.
And yes, there is no one on the planet who does the adoring look like Mark in the presence of Rob. ::sigh::
